If I leave the selection blank for my reserve & youth team will my ass man automatically pick what he thinks is the best team? Or if I put some players into set positions & leave a few blank will he fill them in with the best suitable player?

If you pick players in a position, I have found the ass man can over rule you, not sure on the condition's but I have seen it happen.
Do you mean you just selected a player as say DR in teh reservesand then in teh match he didnt play there? Could be that the Ass Man is selected as being in charge, I can't see him liking you interfering in something you have given him control over. Almost like saying 'I dont trust you'
Abaddon879 - No I was just wondering if I put a player at DR and left the rest blank then would the DR definately be the one that I picked? And then the ass man would choose the other players....
I'm probably just being paranoid but I just want to make sure that my star youths are playing regularly - is there any way to check this, like youth match reports or something?
if the Assman is set to control the reserves or u18 then he gets total control. Even if you set players in position the Ass Man pays no attention to you. They are effectively his team, and you have no say sadly. If you want your youngsters to play, eitehr loan them out, altho still not guarenteed, or make sure no other players can play in that position in the team (reserve or u18). Thats the only way I know of.

ok, thanks - I might take control of my youth team now I don't really want to loan my youths out as I'm Chelsea & they always say it was a waste of time, and my training & coaches are world class so best to keep them.
Trying to remember, as i dont often worry about it as i got a load of youth stars in reserve so rotation good for me, but in the manager options there MAY be a setting for "use current team/formation". This should allow you to pick players you want and he will follow them instructions (afteral you are his boss).
If i am correct in remembering that, then he will fill in any blanks you leave.

This is only true for first team when you go on holiday unfortunately. The only setting is use current tactics.
