My defense is usually pretty consitant.. in the above Tottenham game I let in 32, in my Arsenal game i let in 21, in my Valencia i let in 21, in my Portsmouth 40... pretty good numbers. Of course you will have some games where you go 4-3 or any number of high goals, but its pretty consistant :]

I've been using the last version of your tactic with my liverpool game, i have only made 1 modification to my main tactic (the home-alt one)and in it i set my second striker (the non-target man) with a sarrow to the left, and set his crossing to "often" and "aim for target man". My player of choice is always a quick, skillful player (currently david villa) as he leads to the target man (a big, strong, brick ****house of a guy) to getting more chances as well as getting a shed load of goals/space himself.
This is just one of my modifications to keep the opposition defence on it's toes as i find even if they work on cutting out crosses to the big man, they struggle to cope with the pace of the other guy.
If i can get this screenie to work it will show the results when i used Kewell in the second strikers position and Toni, obviously as target man.
I know it's only against barnet but i have had similar results against the big teams with this system and just thought this served to highlight it. (he scored 4 in the first 10 mins and his hat-trick was only 5 mins) |

Deadly I have your previous version of the tactics and they were superb.
Used them with Real with RVN as my target man but I'm gonna start a new game with these and try and gign Drogba or Klose first season. Who do you recommend of these two?
If I do buy one of these do you think Nistelrooy will fit into the role beside the target man?
What has changed in these tactics since the last version? Any better?

The only changes I have made was to throw out the old Home tactic and to change the tackling around to make it easier, which has decreased my red cards and to a more minor degree, my yellow cards.
If i were playing with Real Madrid, and im not sure how much money they have to spend, if I had enough to buy a star targetman (Klose, Toni, Drogba) I would get Drogba first, Toni second and Klose third in my preference. If you can't afford that high, I would go for Zigic and lastly Eddie J if you cant afford anything more. I would than probably rotate between Raul and Nistelrooy (and maybe Robinho) as they all equally good it seems at playing the fast striker. Perhaps Raul looks best, but they should all be quality there.
The AM is probably your second most important player. Finding a player with both AM and FC proficient training, they will score MANY goals. For example, Carlos Vela at the ripe age of 19 scored more than 30 goals for me in my 3rd season with Arsenal as the AM. I belive my TM (was Zigic) scored only 30-35 as well, so the AM was just as important!

Is it best to leave the individual settings for the striker to the left of the T man alone or will tinkering with him change the tactic?
For example I was thinking of chnaging his through balls to often as I've noticed he beats above five man and then takes the shot on himself rather than just passing to RVN for a tap in. What do you think?
BTW. Waht was your reson for settinf the wingers with Run with Ball and Forward Runs Often and all of the other settings. (Crossing Through Balls) to rarely? I assume this was to encourage skillful players to use their dribbling flair constantly? It does work very well but I'm just interested.
One more sorry- In the whole world who would you say are the ideal players for the MC and AMc postions? (ie the best suited)
Thanks for your time.

As for changing the left striker instructions -- do the best you can for your players. For players who like to come deep for the ball, say Henry, it might be more useful to have higher through balls, but for a player whos plays forward often, it would send the play backwards or stall it to let him make through balls. If anything, just play a few games with different settings and see what works best for your players.
For the wingers - when I first made the tactics I always had my wingers play like real normal wingers who go for the cross, but I found this to be ineffective and give away too much possession. I then hoped to create a Ronaldo type winger - one who will beat the opponent and then go for the short pass or even the goal rather than always crossing. I found it to be more effective and pushed it to the extremes and found it worked well. I wanted to emulate players like van Persie, Ribery, Ronaldo, etc. who are more dangerous playing with the ball rather than running down the line and going for the cross.
For MCs, i am always prejudice because of my allegiance to the gooners but will pick Fabregas as the ultimate MC. He is not on dimensional, he can play DM, MC, and AM (maybe not positionally, but at least statstically) quite well. He is a born controller of the game, and centering him right in the middle produces fantastic results. I have found however that the MC has not as much of a role in my tactic than in others, the main play will be passes to the TM and then up from there rather than passes to the midfield and up that way.
For AM, players like Julio Baptista, Vela, Kaka, Rooney and Ronaldinho are perfect players. They are not one dimensional to the midfield, they can play as strikers and when they are pulled into the box because of the farrow, they can score the goals. At the same time, these players can play the midfield as well. The important stats for these players include the Finishing, Long Shots, Composure and First Touch that normal midfielders may not need as they play a more active attacking role.
For an added touch, I find players like Luka Modric really helpful. They can play all across the midfield, and since my tactic employs a less strict positioning, when they wander around or help out other players they can perform well.
And I also forgot, finishing and composure are also an important statistic for your wingers, because they will get shots on goal as well as all your other midfield.
Good luck :]
