I've been working night and days on making my own tactics. Never finished a whole season with my previous tactics(simply not satisfied despite sometimes being first mid-way through the season). What was important for me wasn't just simply to win trophies but also to do it in a thoroughly deserved way. By the way I would like to thank FuSS, as his famous Minimal FuSS tactic has proved a very good base for producing this tactic. So there we go:
-Full backs have a quite defensive mentality and are not allowed to venture forward or run with the ball too ofen(too risky).
-Centre backs are eventually even more defensive and do stay back. Make sure you've got centre backs with good jumping ability(recommended 17+,minimum 15)
-Central midfielders- although I've preferred not to use a diamond system, one of my CM is more defensive and the other eventually more offensive. Surprisingly, my defensive midfielder has been getting more goals, due to him waiting outside the area and collecting punched balls.
-Wingers are encourage to prevent opposition wing backs from going forward but still remain very effective when providing assists.
Strikers- I've found that the target man/pacey striker combo has proved extremely efficient in FM07. Target man is essential in this tactic and I will recommend him having heading and jumping of at least 18. (klose,Toni, trezeguet, drogba for big teams and E.Johnson,Mcbride, iversen and zigic for inferior teams.)
Essential Tweaks:
Opposition instructions are essential-
-Opp. keeper should be closed down and forced onto weaker foot.
-Opp. defenders should be closed down.
-Opp. midfielders and strikers should be tight marked and closed down.
-Make sure that your targetman finds himself on the right-side of your attacking partnership.
-Against big sides it can be useful to push up your defensive line slightly.
Finally, I would like to add that this tactic relies a lot on offside trap, so it takes a bit of time for defenders to adapt to it. So a disappointing start is not that worrying.
