Basically with EVERY team I manager, no matter who I am I ship loads of goals in the season. I would like to know if anyone has any good tactics which will give me a solid defence and a balanced team throughout!

Use the basic four man defence (DL, DR, 2 x DC) with two DMCs. This is a good solid base providing you do not have a high defensive line. If you play high up the field, you'll find that the pacy opposition striker will waltz through your defence at will. And allow some direct passing from your DMCs and defenders so they can kick the ball upfield if they get in trouble.
