In FM2007, it was easy. You got someone like Corluka (great heading and jumping) and with near post corners you set the intruction for Corluka to do a near post flick on. This however has been fixed in FM2008 but here is what you can do.
The tall defenders are now marked more closely by the two central defenders in the opposition team. So, take your next two best players at heading and jumping and get one to attack the near post and one to attack the far post. Have the two tallest players in your team "attack ball from deep" ensuring that their two central defenders (and usually their best heads) are out of the way.
There are maybe others that spend time on this more than me and they would be good to hear from in this thread but this gets me about 14-15 goals a season. I have Zapata and Barzagli as my DCs that usually get marked tightly, but my two DMCs of Arouca and Baraja attack the near and far posts and get me the goals. Hope this helps.
p.s. You are right .... Scoring from corners and defending at corners can be the difference so I like to spend time getting this right. The views of others would be appreciated.
