You're not going to have Fabregas getting you 15-20 assists a season in the game unfortunately. And neither are you gonna have him getting those many goals. The problem is that the game is not really fair on players who play through the middle. Fabregas's best quality is his ability to put strikers through with killer balls. In the game, its almost impossible for players to do that and even if they do, the striker is invariably gonna miss. As for goals, that wont happen either because its just impossible for players to score from long range post-patch. Just another screw-up in the game. But as long as his pass completion rate is good and his AR is anything above 7, then he's doing well. Before the patch it was the defenders who suffered and not its the CM's/AMC's!
