I am playing as the Hitchin manager and I am having a real problem. This is the first time I have tried LLM and its a real shock to the system.
I started off the way I would at any top level club and that was to buy all young players. I had no players to start with (they were all grey) and managed to get six 18-20 year olds for the first season. By the second season start I had managed to get this up to 14 youngsters and things were looking good.
But my problem is this. I just can't keep a hold of these players because they keep being poached by the clubs in League 1 and 2 and I can't get them on anything more than a one year contract to even make money out of them. Some will sign for 2 years but not many.
Do I continue with this policy until my reputation increases?
Does anyone else have success with a similar policy?

Not the answer you wanted, I'll bet
Oh right
It wasn't the answer I wanted but in a way I expected it. I starte the Dafuge challenge and wonder how I will ever get this team into the Premiership - never mind win it AND the Champions League.
In fact that thought is just ludicrous at the moment. I am having to negotiate one player down to £45 per week when he wants £60 per week. It's a million miles away from what I've been used to.
But the funny thing is, I'm having much more fun with this than I ever had as manager of Valencia/Athletico/Reading/Rangers, etc.
I'm hoping that if you are playing FM2007 that you are at least one season into the game and have taken over at Hitchin after they have been promoted. Otherwise....
mkus: Dafuge challenge is about taking a newly promoted team (newly promoted into the Conference North or South) all the way to Champions League glory.
And as for the title of the post, I wanted to know if the average age of my team was causing me a bigger issue (because of their ambition) than if I had older players that had decided to "settle" for Conference level football.
Bedford_Bulldog: Yes, Hitchin were promoted into the Conference South in the 2006/2007 season and I went on holiday for year at the start of the game until I could select them as a playable team. I wish I had chosen a different one now though.
Look at the Forum Header and the Guidelines, the challenge bears little resemblence to LLM, the only similarity being that you start with a lower league team.
The only challenge that matters in LLM is the challenge the game offers you.
