While the Board and fans expected us to achieve a safe mid-table position, I was pretty sure Eastleigh was able to fight for the title. The rising of the team's wage budget to £160k/month and the spending of £350k on 16 players reinforced that conviction. Also, 14 players left Eastleigh during the season for a massive amount of £4.5M. Of those, most were key players that left at the summer.
The team did well throughout the whole season. The improvement in squad depth provided us the capability to do well in cups (specially the FA Cup), which helped us maitain a comfortable financial situation. We were always inside the play-off zone, and never got too far from Rochdale, who leaded the first half of the season. An improvement in form saw us reach the 1st position by the second half of december, and there we stayed until the end, gaining promotion to League 2.
