In Northern Ireland the rules are different...
This from NI Div 2 Ballyclare Comrades official website:

From the 2001/2002 season Comrades have entered into an alliance with local intermediate grade club, Ballynure OB. Ballynure will act as Comrades reserve team, whilst maintaining their own identity and continuing to play in The Ballymena Premier League. Comrades have first pick of all players at the two clubs and Ballynure will play any Comrades players not in the first team panel. Ballynure will play their home matches at Dixon Park.

This actually seems to go beyond the parent/feeder thing in that it seems that Ballyclare can choose freely from both team squads!
In order to find out the exact rules which covered the use of players between NI clubs, I looked it up...
The 'IFA Intermediate League First and Second Division Rules' contain only the following regarding affiliations and players being used by two teams (not already covered in existing loans and transfer regulations - which mention nothing of feeder/parent loan/1st option regulations):
Quote:
Dual Registration:
43.- Notwithstanding anything in the above mentioned regulation (re: loans in general), no player may be registered with a club in membership of the Irish Premier League, Reserve League or Youth League if said player is a bona-fide player for a club in membership of the IFA Intermediate League.
Note: This rule is not applicable should a club in membership of the IFA Intermediate League have a team, directly affiliated to it, competing in the Youth League.
Any dispute arising in this regard will be considered in conjunction with Rule 37.

I couldn't find anything specific to club affiliations, parent/feeder relationships, first options or loans between affiliated clubs, beyond the above, either in the rules or the IFA Articles.
I've considered emailing each of the UK's FAs to get their official lines on affiliations between clubs, but haven't got round to it yet... (no, I'm not so anal that I simply
must know - I wanted to put something official re: affiliations and parent/feeder relationships in my guides

)
