Default Scouts vs Assistant manager

I find my scouts are referring plenty of "5 star" players. Now I have never understood stats at the lower league level and rely on my assistant manager and scouts to sort the mediocre from the mediocre who can actually perform.

Now almost all the players my scouts recommend my assistant manager recommends me not to sign. Is this happening to anyone else? Is this a bug?

There was a bug in an older version where the ass man would not recommend any goalkeeper, no matter how good.

I listen to my scouts more and use my own judgement.

I prefer not to blindly follow the advice of either my scouts of my Ass Man.

But I trust my Ass Man less.

Probably a stupid question but whch of the two has the higher Player Ability/Potential rating? Would that not influence who you believed?

yes always good being told your keeper isnt good enough to keep his place but is valued at 8 million; or your title winning side isnt strong enough to challenge for major honours (or the vans trophy)

Has that ever changed though? Currently in FM06 storming through the league with a side that I am happy with and has good depth yet assman believes "unless we strengthen every position we have no chance of survival" Currently second with 7 to play

I find the scouts give ratings based on ability compared to your current best player in that position, if you want to be extra careful, scout enough to get the advise on what level players can play (e.g. Joe Bloggs would be a good Conference National player), etc.

Otherwise, ass.man isn't too bad but its down to your judgement in the end.

I have no Assistant Manager (I refuse to type ass.man in this context). So that makes my decision on who to listen to a lot easier.
