I thought my scouts did an okay job in the original game, even though other people clearly had different experience.

I thought the game engine needed tweaking and that has been done with success, but the scouting intention has backfired...

I´ll try a new game with Vauxhall to test out cancelling the feeder club link as this has been suggested as a potential problem.

Finished the exams-period todat, might as well play FM 24/7 until christmas...

Don't bother, we've tested it already (i.e. feeder clubs not allowed in GB, so Liam and I both had no links) and our scouts still did it

okay, well, I got an interesting result with Vauxhall...small database,did not retain all the players from England and whola! after scouting for 46 days my scout found 23 players, with only 8 of them being decent and realistic targets.

Maybe that has more to do with the fact that I didnt retain all the players and that I played with a small database? It sure as h**l i more realistic! :cool:

The problem is though, now the non-league teams that get promoted will have no players. Realistic?

In previous FM games, you would often seen newly promoted teams comprised of all grey players and having to sign a whole squad, which is very unrealistic IMO.

Although before this tended to happen only in far-flung places, but would obviously affect the game far more if it were commonplace in England, or Spain for example.

I think I´ll try a couple of seasons with Vauxhall just to test it out and to see what happens. Perhaps my scouting can stay consistently realistic.

I play on a large database and without retaining any players (since the patch has sorted out the no players at non league clubs issue). I'm in late February 2007 and my scout who scouts England has found 741 players while the one who scouts Conference North/South has found 63.

No feeder clubs either.

I have been playing through 15 months. My scout has found 8 players. They all sucked
