Dammit!!!
4th season in Conference National, 1m in the bank, all players on full time contracts, and still the chairman wont go professional.
All the other clubs around us who come up to national are turning professional. Is this one of those AI advantages?
At least he agreed to upgrade training facilities, maybe that will help.

People get really hung up about this, don't they. I think I'm right in saying that not many clubs in the conference are full time professional. It tends to be the ones relegated from the football league that are.

It's not imperative to turn professional to stay up.
If it's like FM06 you can influence the board's decision by offering players and staff full time contracts - the more of them you have full time at the start of the new season, the more likely the board will be to go pro.
However, if you want to do this, do it realistically - the game will let you offer full time contracts for £50 per week which is definitely not realistic, and definitely not llama. And it can therefore be very expensive to achieve - so that's the quandary you find yourself in.

Actually Michal, the majority of Conference (National) clubs are now professional. There's only half a dozen or so who are semi pro, and yes, most of those are down the bottom end. I think only Stafford are in the top half out of the part timers.

While managing in Sweden my board simply refused to turn us into a pro club, despite 3 top half finishes in the Premiership and qualifying for the UEFA cup. All the senior players and staff were on full time contracts. It was a hindrance, but I could sort of understand because we were a tiny club (4000 capacity ground - rarely full) and because I believe that most clubs below Sweden's top league are part time.
I've been lucky with any club I get promoted in England turning pro fairly quickly, at least within a couple of years, so it's never been much of an issue for me.

| 4 clubs are part time with the remaining being full time. Indeed Stafford are part time and comfortably in mid-table at present - although it is a very close league overall.

Burton Albion are still part-time.
Annual General Meeting Report
04/05/06 22:52:32
Manager Son Of Brian confirmed during the question and answer sessions that the status of the club's playing staff would remain the same next season as it had been during the last season. There would continue to be three training sessions per week which in most cases was only one session less than a lot of full time sides commit to but players would be in a position to find additional income on days when not at the club. This situation had not been seen as particularly detrimental to the development of the club as the signing of ex Ch***er S**ty scumbag forward had shown. The club were progressing towards eventually becoming a full time side and the development of the pub and accommodation on site would hopefully be a major factor in helping to achieve this goal maybe this time next year if the circumstances are right.
