My L2 side have been drawn against the Toon (Newcastle to the rest of us) to play at home. My capacity is a mighty 3500.
Now clearly I have to pray for a draw and to get them back to St James, but is it possible for -
- a temp expansion to the ground. I can't remember who it was, but recently one of the smaller clubs increased their capacity for a similar tie. (maybe Stevenage?)
- play at their ground? Teams used to do this, play the home leg away - not sure if the FA allow it any more though.
- play at a 3rd party ground - could I 'borrow' a local larger ground. Again, not sure what the FA rules are on that though.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but my searches didn't find anything similar!
That isn't possible in FM yet, but it surely sounds as a great addition, as it's widely used in the world of football today!
"Now clearly I have to pray for a draw and to get them back to St James"
- why would you pray for such a thing? You'll get much more money by beating them and then moving on to the next round..
It also doesn't happen in real life any more either, unless the police say to move the fixture for safety reasons. Then it should be played at a local larger ground.

Not if the next round is a home tie against Barnet and you get beat.
An away tie to a Premiership club nets the visiting team 25% of the gate receipts, which to a non-league club is a fortune.
I thought the official rules were that the away team actually gets 50% of all gate receipts? I have never bothered to check if this is the case in FM, and if it's 25% then I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Rules for the FA Cup definately state that the away team get 50%.

As Cliff said it might not be the case especially with a match a against a team such as newcastle a small team, although depends what round it is really.
I actually agree with the suggestion, is still happens IRL.
There have a number of minnow clubs who have opted to move to the other c clubs ground for the tie, as the money is huge to a minor club.
Why run the risk of missing the potential revenue, and as cliff197 said, if you should win, which is not likely and draw an away match against a team even smaller than you, that's a lot of cash you missed out on.
