impossible to recover from a mistake?

is it me or if a player makes a mistake ingame and goes down to a '5' theres seemingly no way to get him playing well for the rest of the match and needs subbing?

Don't mistake his rating for his quality of play.

His rating may be a '7', and he's been docked 2 points for the mistake, so its a '5'... but other than that he may be playing well if you're watching full-screen highlights. If that's the case, leave him in, no problem (and he may even recover to a '7' by the end of the match).

On the other hand, a weak personality might be rattled by or devastated at the mistake, and play abysmally thereafter - in which case, yes, you need to sub him.

On FM07, none of my players ever managed to recover from their mistake. But on the current version, I had a player get from a 5 back to a 7 before the end of the game.

So it is possible this time.

Once had alan hutton put in an OG, then go up the other end and assist 2 goals. think he ended with an 8. But then Hutton is a cocky little blighter

Yeah players recover better in this version - In FM07 a penalty miss was a guaranteed -2 to the rating but it has much less affect here. This is good.

i had key man analysis comments where it says something like he made a mistake early on but recovered well.

i've also had comments where it says he committed mistake early and then never looked like he regained his confidence.

but it's at least possible to recover, still difficult though.
