Default formation change

im always having trouble attacking as my team is always fighting to get back in the game rather than leading. i use my current formation with the reds..

------25-----
--3---4--5---6
-16----14----19
------8-------
---17----11----

and i play attacking, direct , hard tackling, normal defense line, quick tempo and mixed passing style.

for some reason its getting harder game by game. anyone have a gd suggestion for a gd liverpool layout??

Formation will be fine, it's everything else that will be the problem.
I change my settings 3 or 4 times a game. Depends on who you're playing, what the score is, and what time in the game.
Fast, slow, short, direct, narrow, wide. You gotta decide what is best for the situation. Thats what being a manager is all about.

Do you really think that real managers change tactics 3 or 4 times a game?

No, they change it about 20 or 30 times. But thats not really viable on FM.

If you think of the sliders as simple instructions rather than an overall gameplan then yeah they do change several times a game. Changing your attacking slider, or your tempo slider is the same as a manager coming out of the dugout and telling his players to go for it, or to pick up the pace.

What I dont like is that the AI can make changes so much quicker, and you dont get notice of it until it's too late and the damage is done. If a manager shouted some instructions to his team then the other team and manager would hear those instructions as well. I personally think the game should alert us to a tactical shift by the opposition in a better way than occasionally saying "looks like so and so are switching to their normal style". We should already have noticed this when the change happened, not a few minutes later after they almost scored!

Sure, right.

I'm happy that the game is designed by SI and not by you.

Actually managers change formation and tactics within and without game much more often than FM players tend to do

Managers may make 10-20 amendments a game, but how many of them are just telling the player to actually play to the formation that he was meant to be in.

Slight amendments do get made of course but actual formations wont change drastic amounts over the course of a game.

If u are having trouble with formations. Leave ur formation as it is. Just change into a short passing style with a deep defensive line normal tackling.

Try it. I used the exact same formation with liverpool and the aboive tactics and it won me a Champions league and 2nd in Premier League.

Note: But u need to rotate players and have a large squad.

Try it and see how u go.Good luck
