It seems that the top teams let their older players rot in the reserves until their contracts run out

Surely the players wouldn't be happy and accept almost any offer from a Championship team just to carry on playing first team football.

I'm in season 3 and the likes of Scholes, Silvestre, G.Neville, Ballack, Shevchenko, Gilberto, Ljundberg and many others are all stuck in the reserves - none are transfer listed and all are on big wages still. Pointless.

Oh they do, I had cheap offers accepted for both Drogba and Anelka playing in the Championship, none of them wanted to move to me though cause Arsenal and Chelski reserves are such grand teams.

I agree with both comments, usually either the big teams wont sell or release these older players or the older players snub first team football to play with the reserves, i hope this gets rectified.

Some players would rather see out their careers at top clubs than drop down a level for regular football. Most aging top players will only move on if its for a high rep club and/or league.

I always keep my old and experienced players as long as I can in the club. They are very usefull for tutoring youngsters

Plus some make excellent coaches.

Well Arsenal reserves are better than half the premiership teams in the EPL so why wouldnt they want to stay
