Hello. When is the third kit needed? I've noticed a few times that a team plays in their third kit, but why is that? Is it because the ai can determine when the clubs first and second kits are alike, really? I'm asking to know if its safe to delete the third kits or will it make no kits appear during matches?

3rd kits are needed for instance when Man united are away to sheffield united because Sheffield uniteds kit is red and white stripes - Man United home is - red
away is - white
so this is where a third kit comes in which is a totally different kit what so ever...It is usually teams who have kits that will clash
I would keep them but there is no stopping you deleting them

Although, I'd say at least half the clubs don't have third kits? Is that the reason why sometimes there is a blank instead of a kit on match day's overview screen?

I could be wrong of course, but I think sometimes 3rd kit is used even though there is no clash between home sides 1st and away sides 2nd kit colours.

It really confuses me. Or are the config files just so screwed up? I can't put my finger on it, the blanks instead of kits really annoy!

Yeh, i think the reasons teams do have 3rd kit (some exceptions) is because teams in their leagues will have clashes so need one (Man U) but however many teams do not need them for the league but on FM when you play in cups you may come across a team who you clash both kits with and they dont have a kit it sometimes comes up as a blank

i play as man utd and when i play newcatle at home man utd are in the 3rd (blue) kit. newcastle are black and white, there is no colour clashing what so ever with uniteds home (red) kit.....???

I played Lincoln at home, and although my home kit didn't clash with thir red home kit, the game feolt the need to play my 3rd kit, which did clash with their kit. Why would that happen when no kit clash would have happened if I played in my home kit?
