It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

It's fine, although you end up leaving lots of gaps at the back. Technically, if your team is good at catching people offside, then global mentality is very good. If you are still giving away too much at the back, then tight mark the strikers (but you should be doing that anyway).

Absolutely, although a find that a defensive mentality needs at least one forward with an attacking mentality to offer an outlet pass.

I also agree that your team benefits from a global mentality, assumingly because they are all on the same wavelength and playing as a team rather than 11 individuals. The build-up play seems a lot more crisp in my experience. </BLOCKQUOTE>Agreed, and also because the full backs are on a higher mentality relative to the midfielders and forwards than in a RoO/RoT system, they get forward more.

Would you say that GM is better for lower league or higher teams?

I have had success using GM in the premiership and in the conference so it doesn't matter in my opinion.

Hi Mr Fox, welcome to the forum

If you want a strict definition then yes, however I still consider myself to be using a global mentality even if I have 1 or 2 players on individual.

Cheers Leroy. I've never tried global mentality, but if I was going to play an attacking mentailty, would it be useful to put the CB's on a slightly lowered mentality so they don't go charging forward?

I use mentality to influence how I want my team to play overall. Thoughout the course of a game I might be attacking, defensive or normal.

I wouln't consider increasing mentality the best way to play attacking football. I would increase width, raise defensive line and increase forward runs of my players. Its possible to play a very attacking style without having mentality set to attacking.

To answer you question personally I don't set my defenders mentality different to the rest of my team, although I might consider it when the AI is defending as they usually put one striker on a high individual mentality to hit you on the break.
