Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Changing tactics to avoid reranking

I've just completed my first season as AC Milan winning the Serie A by a clear margin and the Champions league. However this si a feat that I have also achieved with Inter Milan but went on to a much more difficult season with the same set of tactics as the first.

So before I start my second season as AC Milan would it be advisable to completely change to a different set of tactics as the AI may have already cracked my previous set? Furthermore would it also be worthwhile to switch back to my first set of tactics in the third season as the AI will have adapted to my second set, if that makes sense?

The AI doesn't crack your set, nor can you avoid re-ranking.

Basically, your reputation will probably rise as you have won the Champions Leage (but as you're a big club it probably won't rise too much). This means you may come up against a few more ultra-defensive teams, so you may need to use a few more "control" tactics, to borrow the wwfan terminology.

Keep your old tactics - they clearly work. But you may need a "plan B" which is a more expansive way of playing to break down the opposition.

Check wwfan's How to Play... thread for a better explanation than I can give.

Cheers.

It was actually WWFans tactic set that I was talking about. Although I never played through a full second season as Inter, just got a few crap results at the start and got bored.

The ones I used with AC Milan were some of my own.

So do you think WWFans would be a good option for the second season to break opponents down and offer something new?

I have used the same tactic for the last 10 seasons and have done very, very well. I always alter the name of the tactic at the start of every season (eg 4-4-2_2018) - but whether this is merely coincidental though is open to discussion...

i cant remember how many tactics have done very good for me in the first season-only to stop working in the second season. if changing the name of tactics avoids this then i will kill myself.

I totally agree, whenever i seem to save a new tactic it seems to stop working!

Sorry, don't quite understand what you're saying there - I use the same tactic for every season but I change it's name and save it.

Totally Blue. I agree with you.

I posted a topic the other day stating my theory that renaming tactics is a way to fool the ai but got slated for it.

I used a tactic in my Liverpool game first season and although I won the league it seemed that my opponents were getting used to it. However in the second season I renamed the tactic slightly like you mentioned earlier and it seemed to be as good as new and I won the league with it again.

Strange but I think true.

:cool:Maybe not such a coincidence then???
As stated earlier I've used the same 4-4-2 tactic for ten straight seasons and all I've done is altered the name every season - and had great sucess. It would be an interesting exercise if somebody else would also look into this (?dubious?) phenomenon and give feedback on their findings.
CREW- Ithink it was your topic that set me thinking along these lines in the first place - mind you, it'll probably turn out that we're bonkers !!!
