Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default How to kill teams off?

After most of my games I seem to get the message 'should have won this easy'

I dominate possesion, chances and passing accuracy is always higher, however I can't seem to score many goals.

I'm Leeds in Div1, have Flo and Andy Cole up front which should get me goals but they can't hit a barn door. Have tried all strikers in squad and they are the same. On the highlights the chances seem to be easy, the opposition scores much harder chances with only 4-5 shots all game!

My training is 4stars for shooting. I have no funds either.

If I could score goals I would be a top table team,

Any ideas?

Here are some screenshots for further info.

I don't want to tinker too much with the formation as the team are playing well, if only my strikers could find the net.

Turn tempo into mixed or even slow. It's not about how fast your players run, but how quick they make decisions. Only a few teams can play quick tempo at the beginning and Leeds is definetely not one of them.

Turn off free role for Moore. He is not supposed to have free role - his role is to score. Rather give free role one MC and/or wingers.

Decrease closing down for one of the STs (Cole I guess) as they both are often out of their positions when close down often. Make only Cole hold up ball and put him in TM box (do not tickle "Use TM" though).

Don't make Moore Forward run often. He is already up on the pitch (mentality setting), so he has nowhere to run, but offside.

Hope this helps.

I've found that having through balls set to often on any forward just confuses the hell out of them. Since through balls are also generally a forward pass, if you prefer the option, a more direct passing style from the strikers may be more functional.
