Just wondering what CF people use to get the best out of their strikers?
do you give them much and rely on their ability or do you go more conservative, giving them little so they just stick with what you've told them to do?
ive had success with both but i'd like to hear what others think about this, as sometimes i seem to have trouble getting the best out of certain players!
what about big target men? do you give them more or less than your goalpoacher?
Depends on the quality of the player and the relative quality of the league.
Teves for example played brilliant for me on creative freedom 15, he score a few fantasic goals, but wasn't exactly prolific for me. However he set up Ashton a treat assisting him more time than any other player. Ashton on the other hand was set to creative freedom of 10, but I set him to closing down 18. Loads of goals, golden boot and west ham player of the season (personally I would have given it to Teves).
At Harrogate Kirk Jackson was set quite low at 6 for CF, but with max closing down. Danny Holland was his creative partner set at 10. Again Holland score some great goals, but set up Jackson for a fair few tap ins.
why should you lower CF if the players your using are relative to the league theyre in?
i mean sure the players arent world class by any means but relative to their own league they are pretty good! does that mean i should be able to get away with using CF as its likely to have a positive result when playing against similar quality type players??

I don't know the answer mate, just saying what I found success with.
Depends on player in question, the league you're playing in and the type of football you want to play.
For me its not random. If a player has high decisions and good technical skills then I will give him normal CF if he is playing with a 2 man strike force.
If I have a 4231 where I want him to remain as central as possible, then he gets low CF, HUB and mixed forward runs. No RWB
If he is playing as part of a trio of strikers then it depends on his duties. If he is the goal scorer he has the lowest CF, probably little and I give the ones around him loads of cf.
So it really depends on what you want to do. The challenge of course in 07 is keeping him central. That's often easier said than done. They tend to drift a lot to the flanks. Its been an issue for a while and steps are afoot to address it for 08.
In lower league football, its best if you keep CF's low as much as possible. They usually don't have the necessary attributes to play well with high cf. High CF will also affect you when you set up FWR, when a poor player is giving high CF and high fwr, he may more often than not disappear from the linkup play resulting in lots of aimless passes and he is left isolated upfront.
