Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Captain: My experience

I´ve been one of that guys who have thought that it´s all about tactics.
Am I doing well? Oh, my tactic is great.
Am I doing bad? or I often loose matches I deserved to win, incosistency, etc.? Oh, my tactic is crap.

Well, from a time ago I started to attend another aspects of the game, such as team-talks, media handling, player interaction, and stuff like that.

I couldn´t be more surprised with the effects that these aspects have in the success/failure of my side.

But I want to point one aspect in particular: the captain selection. It´s so important!! I´ve always been a bit simplistic on this one: looked for the guy with highest influence and that´s it. Big mistake. So, I started to look for another attributes or characteristics, such as determination, concentrarion and, most important: player personality.

The ideal captain would have to be "Model professional", with high influence and determination. Another option is "Leader".
Avoid setting players "fairly determined" or "fairly ambitious" (no matter his influence) like captains.

Trust me, selecting the right captain has a great effect, it tends to make a side more consistent, less cards, less stupid mistakes, less oposition late goals or super-comebacks, etc.

Mmmmm interesting.
Like you I normally look at the 'Influence' stat to determine who wears the captains arm band.

I will now in future check the other attributes and see what affect it has.

Cheers!
