It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Is there anything else that matters?
The first thing is getting the best academy that you can - which you seem to have done - the other thing is casting your scouting net as far and wide as possible as this will increase the likelihood of getting higher calibre youths.

I suspect the reputation of your club plays a part though to what degree I don't know.

Of course the thing is once you get them there making sure your coaching staff and training programme are adequate or even the best youths will merely become average players.

Thanks Dayle. My scouting coverage is 83% all over the world. Is it suffice?

yeah. Should be ok. Another thing I do is identify who is never going to make it and make sure I cut them loose early rather than later. That way you have more openings available for new blood to come in.

Obviously (and I'm sorry if you already know this) look for players that are described as promising and keep hold of them to see how they develop.

Player personalities do play a big part in the game as a whole, it affects everything from tutoring to tactics and media effects.
Question about tutoring. I've just started a game with Everton using the Weegie Update and so I have Manuel Fernandes in my squad. He's only 20 and he's described as a wonderkid. I want him to be tutored by some of the more determined experienced players in the squad such as Cahill/Carsley but when I click on his player interaction screen there's no options for tutoring him/linking him to a senior player. Could anyone explain why this can sometimes be the case????

As an aside, I've often noticed that sometimes if there aren't any tutoring options available when you click on the youngsters player interaction screen (as in the above example) this can be resolved by moving the youngster from your first team to your reserve team and moving the experienced player from your reserve team to your first team. However, in this case I've done that and Fernandes still doesn't have any options to be tutored by anyone. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Does anyone have any thoughts on my post??? (above). Cheers.

Can't a player only be tutored by someone with a significantly better CA (20+) then his? In the case of Fernandes, an already established first-team player, it may be that there isn't anyone strong enough in the squad to tutor him, or that beyond a certain leve of ability you cant be tutored. I've experienced this with players like Ustair and Aguero before.

To be honest that's the only think I could think of, but I've never read that anywhere to confirm it. Hopefully someone in the know may be able clear it up at some point.

Fernandes cannot be tutored in your game because he is considered to be a first team player. You are correct in moving him to the reserves, I would also suggest setting his squad status no higher than hot prospect and never playing him for the first team. Eventually ( maybe up to 6 months) he will be tutorable!
