Firstly, please understand i am fairly limited in my knowledge of creating tactics and have previously only tweaked some of the presets.
I am a very big fan of a short passing game - pass and move, lots of triangles and creativity. What i'm looking to achieve is a tactic like this but one that also has some direct passing through the middle for my stikers to run onto/into channels. Think Argentina in the world cup! I have a good technical team so players isn't the issue. I think a lot of it will depend upon player preferred moves?
any help much appreciated - i did a search but didn't really find what i was looking for (as said so well by our esteemed Irish friends, U2).
Try through balls, creative freedom. I would also think that formation is important, to create natural angles and triangles. A large midfield would give plenty of passing options, so some form of 4-5-1 or even 3-6-1 would be good. A playmaker maybe too?
i think if you use run with ball realy but forward runs often on some players they will be more likely to "pass and move" instead of runing with the ball. (i think).
i play a staggered 4-5-1 formation and have the DM as playmaker. the formation gives more triangles and passing options, and the teams passing is on short whereas i put the playmaker on direct passing with try through balls often (with "use playmaker" ticked to make him effective).
the team uses the whole pitch and passes it neatly, and the playmaker spreads the play all over and plays some killer balls. sounds like the kind of thing youre after?
A 4-2-3-1 formatmation would work best, with the two DMC's on mixed passing/try through balls often for the DM player and mixed for the DM anchor role. But the 5 attacking players all try through balls rarely/mixed and short passing, so they look to pass the play between them and not try aimless through balls but rather build up play. You don't want to have your players making suring forward runs if you want them to build play - pass and move, you want your players to stay close to each other You'll get direct passing your after from your DMC's, and your attacking players should play neat short passes and build up play.
