Kroldrup’s interception lands at their guy circled in black who pings a through ball for yakubu as illustrated by the yellow arrow, who my centre half is completely oblivious to.
Is there anything I can do about this are is it just the way defenders are programmed to behave.
I used the opposition instructions as you suggested Leroy, centre halves set to man marking. This isn't a criticism of your suggestions Leroy1883 as I have used alot of your other threads to great effect. I'm just curious as to whether this is just something that is uncontrollable i.e. centre halfs ignoring strikers when possession changes quickly.
IRL the defender would know about Yakubu's turn of speed and be goal side of him, no way would he defend like that!.

Just to add, unless of course you were playing offside, then you should have witnessed both DC's stepping up!.

Again I don't want to critise, but you are 2-0 up with 4 mins + stoppage to go.
Why don't you deepen the line and play defensive with max time wasting for the remainder of the game?
Yakabu is push right up in mentality terms because they are chasing the game.
However I can't understand why your defender isn't challenging Yakabu for the ball. The thoughball will take time to reach Yakabu and in that time the defender should A be picking him up and b try to intercept the ball.

No I wasn't playing offside, I tried to at one stage but I kept conceding 'breaks the offside trap' goals and gave up using it. It's just something I've noticed alot that as the ball moves in the direction of play players just follow that direction to their designated position on the formation screen when the ball isn't in their general vicinity.

doesnt the close down often in opposition instructions negate the 11 closing down you have normally?
thats how ive always seen it and ive never had any real success in england without setting closing down to high! @18 for my wingbacks!
Yes but only to the player you are targeting e.g. the winger. For any other muppet they act as normal. </BLOCKQUOTE>
i dont understand?

How do you explain this one, Leroy? FM is flawed, inconsistent, and tactics don't do what they are supposed to perhaps? It's useless posting threads saying this works or that works, because there is absolutely NO way to work it out due to other slider settings. This is the conclusion I came to after I tried these settings and lost 4-0 at Arsenal. Until we know what each slider does and how it affects our tactic it is IMPOSSIBLE to make claims such as opposition instructions helps you defend better. It might be that your closing down settings are good or your bloody goalkeeper's mentality is just right. It's a game of chance I am afraid. Every match is a roll of the dice, but the AI's dice are weighed so they can hit a 6 every time...

I lost 4-0 to nuneaton, but I didn't abandon it as this was one game. I am not saying this works I am sharing my sucesses. If others have success with it then great, if they don't then they won't do it.
What is wrong with posting successes?
If it's a game of chance, then how come I had success at Vauxhall, West Ham, Welling, Celano, Harrogate and Bristol Rovers?.
I have never failed to have success in the long term so what is the issue?
