You can't see it too well, but Danny Graham is the open guy in red. It's Tranmere versus Rotherham. I'm Tranmere at home.

But then he plays it straight back to number 21, Diagouraga, whom tries to play a through ball to Danny Graham. Sodje blocks the tackle, and then plays ANOTHER bad pass to number 12, Justin Cochrane: |

Who scores an astonishing 30 yard strike. Remnants of Pavel Nedved in his heyday. Until you realise that: |

His long shots and finishing is woeful. Perhaps they went on the counter. Yes, that's it.
Counter attack = 30 yard strikes and other silly goals regardless of ability. Oh, and before I forget, the rather inevitable and boring after-match 'report.' How many times have you seen this? |

And you know what, lads, this would be perfectly fine. I don't want to take away the fact that players of lesser ability can hit a 'wonder-strike.' Barry Horne kept us up for Christ sake. It's just that it happens all too often and is a poorly executed translation of proceedings.

Acn you not see why that happened? You don't have a single player open and close to the defence for the first ball, so he has to hit it long. He then commits to a tackle, tries to find a man who is semi-open, misplaces the pass and is out of position for the goal. It may well be a thirty yard strike but he is under no pressure whatsoever as he hits it. look at the dots. So close together, no outlet for a pass. Something is very wrong tactically.

| But it's no good trying to find out what the tactics are. All we are told is that the team are great, the tactics are great, the action zones mean very little, the stats screen tells the whole picture, the media and team talks are poorly implemented and I can't be bothered to learn them anyway, the game cheats, the match engine is rubbish, everyone who has success is replaying the matches they lose and that it doesn't matter what tactics you use as the AI will always beat you if it wants to. Throw in a screen shot or 10 for good measure and thats your evidence. This is 100% fact by the way. |
