.....First game using new tactic, beat Arsenal 1-0 at home, a game im sure i would have lost without it.

Agreed it is the players doing the work, and they are good players, but on this one game it would appear this tactic allows them to perform to their best. Cheers

Left striker should be a target man. (also select him as a TM on the list but don't tick the box)
Maybe I have misunderstood something, but whats the point of selecting a target man if you don`t tick the box?

have tried the tactic 5times now. playing the same game. i played the same game (away against villa 4times before) and all 9 times i've lost.
the smalest loss i s 0-3 and the biggest is 6-1

I noticed one thing.

Villa scores at least one goal in every match wich is BIGTIME offside!
maybe 5meters!!

in the 1-6 game they scored 3goals that was clearly offside. one of them was when carew got a ball when he was in the middle of my half when my defence was in the nidtfield!!!!
¨he scored and the ref said it was ok.
in the same game i scored when it was two defenders infront of me, and it was ruled out by offside.

i have watched the replay, and it smels pay-off..

the only problem is that i have not ever heard about this as a possibility in FM...

is it so?
is ity possible?

¨fm07 got to many bugs...

waiting eagerly for 08...

your original tactic is great i have used it for nearly 5 seasons with man city as i thought i needed a challenge and was bored with having to use a big team to win trophies... my seasonal results so far.......

2006/7 5th in league, league cup winners
2007/8 4th in league, uefa cup winners
2008/9 9th in league, fa cup winners (nearly got sacked, but for fa cup win)
2009/10 Winners in league, winners in uefa cup
2010/11 so far winners of super cup and charity shield, top of league and still in both cups
and also second round of european cup

Eddie johnson has scored over 150 goals for me with this tactic and he was out injured for most of 2008/9

I downloaded the latest version of your tactic. I have played a few games and decided to give you some feed back.
I Gave the tactic a test on my liverpool game. I am part way into my second season and have quite a strong side. this link shows my squad
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4841/squadqb0.jpg
I played 10 games, here is how i got on. Here is a link for my results. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/9875/resultsxy0.jpg

Below if a write up of how the matches went.

Man city - Home
An open first half with even shots and possesion for both teams. Kuyt sent of on 38 mins. Kept instructions the same and played with 1 up front. 0-0 @ HT.
2ND half continued in the same vein until the 70th minute when Torres burst through to give us the lead.
Man city stepped thing up and the last 10 minutes were very nervous. But we held on. Shots and posession were even for both teams.
RESULT: 1-0 WIN.

Portsmouth -Away
1-0 down within 10 mins to a quick starting Pompy side. Got back into the game posession wise but unable to score. 1-0 down @ HT.
We dominated the second half and had 15 shots compared to pompy’s 6. Posession was fairly even. But we could not convert our chances.
RESULT: 0-1 LOST.

Porto - Home
Porto sting my team with a first minute goal. This is the second leg of a champions league game, its now 1-1 on agg. Thankfully we are on level terms within 10 minutes and take a 2-1 lead on the stroke of half time. 2-1 UP @ HT.
2ND half Porto are rampant and pepper my goal with shots from all angles. But my team are hitting on the break and we go 3-1 up. Shortly after we Break again and its 4-1. This makes the aggrigate score 5-1 and the pressure is off. Porto ended the match with 20 shots compared to my 8 and they had 58% of the posession.
RESULT: 4-1 WIN.

Sunderland – Home
F.a cup this time against recently promoted Sunderland. You have all seen it, Winger in a good attacking position. But instead of crossing he hits a 60 yard back pass to the keeper. Suprise! Suprise! Their striker intercepts it and bangs it in. 1-0 down. 45 minutes on the clock and we win a penalty. Up steps Riquelme, and misses. HT 1-0 Down.
We take control of the game in the second half. A Direct free kick pulls us level. 2 more goals in quick succession gives me a comfortable lead by the 70th minute. Only to concede with 5 minutes to go. A nervous few minutes and 4 mins of added time but we hold on. We had 22 shots to sunderlands 6 and had 57% of the posession.
RESULT: 3-2 WIN

Blackburn – Home
Back to the league. First half was a non event no shots at all. 0-0 HT.
Second half we strolled to a 2-0 win without having to excert ourselves. We had 16 shots, they had 6. Even posession. I wish all games were this simple.
RESULT: 2-0 WIN

Wigan – Home
First half We controlled the game posession wise but neither side made the goal keepers work too hard. 0-0 HT
Giant Target man Zigic heads home from a corner to give us the lead on 60mins. This spurs wigan on and they pile on the pressure. A quick counter attack leads to another corner. The ball goes loose and drops to Torres at the edge of the area. Pick that out! 2-0 up. Wigan are a broken team and shut up shop so they don’t lose by any more. Posession was even, we had 10 shots they had 5
RESULT: 2-0 WIN

Wigan – Away
Somehow the fixture computer managed to put my away match to Wigan just 4 days after the home game. We carry on where we left off 15 minutes in we break the off side trap and take the lead. On the stroke of Half time we double our lead after good posession. The build up to the 2nd goal included no fewer than 20 passes. Wigan breath a sigh of releif at the sound of the whistle. 2-0 up HT.
Both teams cancelled each other out in the second half. Posession was even we had 14 shots they had 4.
RESULT: 2-0 WIN

Newcastle – Away
Newcastle controll the game early on. After withstanding heavy newcastle pressure,we conceed a freekick on the edge of the box. The strike takes a wicked deflecton and flies past the keeper. We kick- off and score straight away. Newcastle held the lead for less than a minute. Newcastle were well on top but the half ends even. 1-1 HT.
We start the second half much better and start to take control. The increased posession pays off as we take a 57th minute lead after a good passing move. Newcastle push forward in numbers and we start to feel the pressure an they force 4 corners in succession. We are holding on by the skin of our teeth. Then a lapse from the full back. He lets michael owen sneek past him to tap a cross in at the back post. An 87th minute equeliser. The posession and shots were even in the end.
RESULT: 2-2 DRAW

Reading – Home
Reading are a much improved side in the second season and are holding a position in top 6 of the table.
Agger goes off injured in the 3rd minute. We find ourselves 1-0 down to a slick looking reading within 10 minutes. The post is all that comes between us going 2-0 down 10 mintes later. This let off seemed to gee my players on as we went forward and soon got back on level terms. A few quick passed led to a dreak down the right, a deep cross to the back post for Iaquinta to head in on 33mins. 1-1 HT
Second half we dominated the game and restricted Reading to 1 shot at goal. But we couldn’t finish it off. We had 11 shots, they had 9 but we should have done more with our 58% of posession for the game.
RESULT: 1-1 DRAW

West Ham – Away
1-0 down within 10 minutes after lots of Hammers pressure. Hardly had a touch in the first half. West ham had 60% of the posession and 12 shots. My lot managed 1 shot off target in 45mins.
1-0 Down HT.
Second half was a big improvement, after a good bollocking we got the posession back to 50/50 and restricted The Hammers to 2 shots in the second period. While we mustered an impressive 12 shots in the second half. It was all to no avail as we could not hit the net and went down 1-0.
RESULT: 1-0 LOSS

So the stats were,
P10 W6 D2 L2 F17 A8 GD9
Home form was much better than away. Winning 5 and drawing 1
Away form was not so impressive. Won 1 drawn 1 and lost 2

This is a good attacking tactic for a good team, probably worth a longer test to see if the away form picks up. I had a worrying slump in the end after the run of 5 wins on the trot. I didn’t get a chance to check it out against one of the title contenders. I feel it may be too open and attacking and would leave too much room for Arsenal to get into. (Arsenal always beat me)
