Season 09 – Västerås IK – First Division South

Media prediction spotted us as division favourites, board and fans wanted mid-table safety. The start of the season saw us with no transfer funds, but some money was raised when two players left for 30k. The squad was strengthened with three players for free.

The season didn’t start great, and we went to as low as ninth. However, a really strong run of form pushed us all the way back up in promotion contention. It all came down to the last day of the season, where three of the teams were equal on points at the top of the table. Fortunately, we were the only one that won our game, and we were awarded automatic promotion! Boards and fans loved it of course.

Highlight – Promotion and our F C was Top Goalscorer with 16

I have never heard the term Lowlight before and I am wondering if BluMoon just made it up. Can anyone confirm this is actually a word and is used in the correct context?

Internet search shows it's in current edition of OED but its not in my 1978 edition, so its a recent coinage.

Season 2010 – Västerås IK – First Division Elite

A new league again, and I was nervous about whether we could cope. Vasteras SK are in this league, meaning I’d get to play in my first derby this season. The media anticipated that we’d finish in 13 out of 16, which was a relegation play off spot. We let thirteen players leave the club for free, all of whom wouldn’t be able to play to this standard nor had a future. In contrast, three players were brought in for 2k.

The team played pretty well throughout the whole season and we finished in eighth, just sneaking into the top half of the table. There was never any worry about relegation battling from the get-go, and we actually held second for a little while. But it was not to be, and our form dropped when we began to pick up too many injuries, giving three youngsters their league debuts. Cup run was okay, and we won three rounds.

Season 2010 – Västerås IK – First Division Elite

Still expected to hit 13th place this season, but I was silently confident about us performing way better than that. I brought in two young players, a GK and a ST for 1k total, both of which turned out to fit straight into my first team. Season didn’t start very well with only 3 points from a possible 15. For most of the season though, the boys did well, and our only real struggle being the one in front of goal, where our strikers couldn’t bag enough. I bagged another striker for free over the mid-season window, and he turned out to be our top scorer with eight goals in twelve games. With a full season under his belt, he could be what we need to push forward next season.

We had a pretty decent cup run too. The team managed to knock out a top-flight team until we were knocked out in the quarter finals. No different from last season, bagging the same number of points, but with a worse goal difference.

Highlight: First victory over Vasteras SK (1-0)

Lowlight: TBH wasn’t too disappointed at all – consistency was lacking though
