To answer your question - I haven't the foggiest. It depends on so many variables: which leagues you have loaded, which version of FM you're playing (I'm assuming 07) and what experience level you set yourself as (again, assuming FM07). I'm sure in the dim past the occasional LLaMa has tinkered with starting unemployed and waited to see who offers a job, but most either apply for a vacant post (as DJ did) or let Frank pick. I'm certain nobody has waited to see who offers a position to an unemployed LLaMa in FM07 yet.

thank you, the quinn. as you can see my reason for this thread is exactly that. i haven't the slightest idea how to apply for a football job IRL. in addition to that, if i were living in, let's say, poland, i wouldn't be able to apply for a job in romania or england. so in true LLM form, i've decided to start my LLM career unemployed, only applying to jobs in my actual region. i'm surprised none of the other Llamas have decided on this.

| Ah, there's mature. As you can probably see, I had already apologised for misreading his post. Oh well, eh? |

Look at the time difference between your post and Liam's.
There's a good chance that he started writing his post before seeing yours...
Dave - as this is a game, it is assumed that we start unemployed before the game start date and are appointed at the club we choose on that date. Nothing wrong with doing it your way, per se, but many see no need to go to that extreme.

| That's exactly what happened. I was distracted half way through my post by the kettle boiling |

I may be a veggie but even I draw the line at spouts. Nobody likes them, thats why they're not on sale all year round.

I started a game with most of the European leagues (except the really small ones) and as unemployed.
I'm LLm'ing as a manager, i.e. start at the bottom and working my way up. Was about 8-10ish that needed a manager, applied to all of them and got 2 offers, both in Russian second division. Beggars can't be choosers so I just accepted the offer that looked the best and got on my way!
However, which clubs are available wholly depends on when you choose to start your game as well. I didn't consider the IRL aspect that you should only try clubs closer, I figured a manager is international |

I have always started unemployed since that option was available. I then usually just go on holiday with the apply for higher reputation jobs and have it end my holiday when I get offered a job.
One game it took 10 days before I was offered a job, other time it took 5 months but usually I get offered a job in that in 1-3 months.
I then usually set the settings in game status so I can only get jobs from a certain division, like the ECS, CFA and so on.
