I took charge of Bedford and kept losing and got relegated. I then took charge of tiverton and again kept losing and got relegated again.
i have tried various tactics and also playing to my players strengths but still no success.
Ah , a noob i hear u say, well it may surprise u to hear that ive been playing the series since CM2.
In previous versions ive always managed to establish either a formation or way of playing which brings a reasonable amout of success however with the latest fm versions & latter cm versions (cm03/04) i have struggled.
I am the kind of manager that likes to buy players at the start of the season , pick a formation and then play through the season without the having to make any adjustments during matches as i dont like this micro-management.
I think that my type of management is being completely phased out and i fear for my FM future.
i am not asking for players, tactics or anything specific but are there any other managers out there that used to play the same way as myself that have managed to adapt to the recent series.
I started with CM2 as well and did pretty much the same to begin with, up until CM3, with regard to positions and formations but FM means you really have to play to strengths and formations must reflect this.
Team instructions are important too, as are individual instructions.
You need to modernise.Or alternatively, I'll put it bluntly. Stop being so lazy and actually MANAGE the team - don't just sit back and click continue, that's no game!
I agree with the scotmodbloke: you have to micromanage if you want to be succesful. Or to be at least somewhat competetive. 'One tactic fits all' doesn't cut it anymore:  to SI, because that is obviously more realistic = more LLM

I'd like you to name one manager that manages like that in real life.
Micro-management has become the key to success. You have to adapt your tactics based on how you compare to others. Or you have to change players to fit your tactic, which usually is alot more expensive and harder.
Although if you find a good tactic that works for your team you should be able to run it for the season, so that means less micro-management.
The newer FM games are harder, especially this version. I struggled with the previous version to get a tactic sorted.
All I can say, is watch what the players are doing on the 2d view during the match, and make tweaks until it works alright.
I use one tactic all the time, home or away, with my current club, and it works very well. It has had so many changes now (my 3rd season in 2007) that I would never be able to replicate it I don't think.
