Default Glebe Rangers FC, are by far the greatest team, LLM will ever see!

As mentioned in my previous post, i have returned to LLM. I installed the new build and got cracking with a completely new "game". When i'd been a LLM pre-patch, i was managing Glebe Rangers who begin the game managerless and with mostly greyed out players. The patch has added players to this team now which is great and again i chose to return to the managerless Glebe Rangers.

My first task was to take a look at my playing squad. To my horror, they are all youthful, a few 15 years olds, a good few 16year olds and a few 17 year olds. It is clear that the new club in the Irish League Second Division needs experience as well as acquiring what quality i can get...if any.

I embark on my first friendly. A match at the Riada Stadium against my supported team from the Premier League, Crusaders FC. I settle for a basic 4-4-2 formation that is already in the game and tweak slightly to accomodate my babies! After only 9 mins bingo, i'm 1-0 up. A twenty yard scorcer is buried in the keepers top right hand corner. Things look promising. But by half time, we are 1-4 down, no thanks in part to my young striker who headbutts Crusaders Centre Half in the 30 minute and is justifiabley sent off. The game finishes 1-4. A good defensive display in the second half ensures we finish the game with a spirited second hal display. Possession wise, we didn't have much with 11 V 11. But 10 V 11, didn't help either. I had only 36% possession. My players could hold on to a ball if it was glued to them! My violent player is fined 1 weeks wages, and he accepts he was out of order. Great to see that a player understands that i will not tolerate violence on the football pitch. From this fixture and with my team £500 000 in the read, we earn £607 from gate receipts. Not much really but to a wee club like ours, this is vital.

After the match, i embark on adding to my playing staff and my 1 and only scout points me in the direction of a few players i think would be of benefit to the club. I also pulled in a few loanees to help bolster the squad.

After only 1 match, albeit a defeat, i am enjoying it regardless.

You've returned to LLM? You seem to have forgotten a few of the basics.

Don't talk tactics...ever.

Updates only after the completion of three seasons.

...and please, don't argue

My scout comes up with a few more potential signings. Unfortunatly due to financial constraints, i cannot fork out cash for players therefore i must rely on free transfers. I manage to pull in a veteran Irish League striker that once played for my beloved Crusaders. He's by no means a great player, a legend of the Irish League, but i'm convinced i can get the best out of him. He's tall, he's strong and knows were the goal is. He can also play in the centre of midfield. I need players with versatily because my team is so small. Two midfielders are added and a central defender. As well as another loanee from Portadown, a right full back.

Second friendly, Glebe Rangers Vs Larne, again at Riada Stadium. A new loanee striker from the much loathed Portadown starts. The quality of our football is appalling and again we can't keep possession. We open the scoring from the penalty spot on 23 mins but i am not convinced we can hold on. My fears come true when Larne equalize in the 29th minute. On 39th min, we get a corner. The ball is crossed in and Larne clear their lines. Its two on two and we end up out numbered two on three and Larne score their second from the resultant counter. Things are looking grim. Half time we're losing 1-2. The second half is only eight minutes old when Larne strike again and leave us 1-3 behind. I'm beginning to suspect that my half time team talk has not registered with the players. Through the match, i do some more tactic tweaking. Nothing major. A few players giving away the ball to much. A few wandering out of position to often. I add a bit of attacking to our game as i feel i've been to cautious. On 81 mins, after putting Larne under a lot of pressure, it pays off and we come back to 3-2. I smell a comeback! I have faith. My faith in my babies pays off when in the 88th minute, we equalize and deservedly so. At half time we had 36% possession. By full time, we manage to have 45%. A few tactical reviews and changes, i feel, have contributed to the comeback. Great result, great comeback and another few hundred pounds in income. On we go with finding more talent to bring to the Riada Stadium......

Sorry pal, i've missed that somewhere along the lines. I'll leave it there for now. Apologies. The tactics part, i thought it would be ok to mention the formation, but not give out the actual tweaks. I deserve a warning this time mate.

What the jock mod said.

And also, it's like War & Peace part 3, and he's only just played his second friendly.

There is a forum for stories. It's called FM Stories. It's not called Lower League Managers.

Have a read of the forum header, as you've already been directed to do.

Can this post be removed at all? Prefer to see it disappear now. Can someone also point me in the direction of where it says to post only after 3 seasons as i've yet to see it anywhere. Definatly not into conflict iajafer so not in the position of argueing and i respect the rules. Had i saw anything regarding this i'd certainly not have posted this. I'm simply missing something that i think i should have read somewhere but have missed it. As for my "return to LLM". I merely meant of a game playing level. I've never been on ANY LLM forum hence my inexperience with this post. I've read everything but can't seem to find anything regarding the 3 season rule etc. Last thing i want to do is make a ****** of myself in here, which seems i've already did the damage!

Updates

At the Mods' Meeting of Sunday, April 25, 2004 it was decided after a lengthy debate that the moritorium on LLM Updates should be lifted for a trial period. As such updates will be allowed in the LLM Forum under the following conditions:

1) LLM updates SHOULD be started in the Lowest available league in any given Nation, single league nations - though not strictly speaking LLM - will be allowed

2) Updates should take the form of a short description of how your Team is doing. Game summaries should be avoided, but may be posted for Cup Finals, Playoff games and important games which have a direct bearing on your Team. eg, relegation deciders.

3) <STRIKE>Only one update thread per month may be started, i.e., If you start an update on the 1st of April you won't be allowed to start another until the 1st of May - only one update ongoing at any time. This specifically includes "game crashed", "got sacked and started afresh" and any other excuse.</STRIKE>

4) Mods will, at their discretion, close updates that appear to be "dead".

5) Any suggestion of non-LLM inpropriety will result in the thread being closed. Refer to LLM Guidelines for more information.

6) It goes without saying that there's no player naming, tactical discussion, and the rest of the acknowledged LLM Forum "Rules". The Spirit and Ethos of LLM should be adhered to, they are there to help you enjoy a "clean" game and not as a shortcut to an easy career. Guidelines are open to general interpretation, but the Mods are experienced enough to decide when interpretation of guidelines is being abused.

7) Only one thread per update, re-titled by a Mod if requested, eg. Change of Club. Any other thread concerning the same career will be closed.

8) The posting of Tables is actively discouraged.

Note: The trial has now been lifted and updates are a permanent fixture at LLM, although each condition must still be followed.

Note Mk II: A minimum of three seasons must be completed in order for a user to start an update thread. We do appreciate that it can take some users a long time to complete three seasons, so if you would like to start an update thread sooner, please email one of the mods for permission

Cheers pal. I did miss that bit! Apologies to all LLMers for my thread then. The last thing i intended doing was going against the rules of LLM. If folk actually knew me as a person, they'd know i'm not one for conflicting, breaking rules and the like. I've made a genuine mistake on this one and that's regrettable. For that i send out my apologies.

Regards

David
