Its nice to know you care

Ive just realised what a tit I am...and a great big man tit at that. Ive got my seasons back to front. The 2010-11 results I posted actually happened in 2011-12! Oh the agony! So to clarify in 2010-11 we did finish 14th but were out in the Trophy in the 1st Rnd and the FA Cup in the 4th Rnd replay. There were no end of season miracles. Feel free to hurl brickbats and insults...or start a campfire for the hell of it. In my defense I have already played a fair few seasons.

2011-12 Improvement! Joy! Delerium! Ecstasy! Blyth rocket up to 7th, just five points from the semi-mythical play off stages. All helped in part by an end of season surge and a shed load of new players instead of my home grown policy which has been consigned to the rubbish bin of failure. I think thats correct

2012-13 The past of mediocrity is firmly in the distance as we earn a suprise place in the Conference National by just two points from Frickley. Plenty of goals but plenty conceded. 14 games straight without a clean sheet. Highlights were a 5-4 thriller against Macclesfield and a 5-1 thrashing of Halifax to end a triumphant season. Board and fans alike rejoice.

2013-14 Predictable battle to survive the first season in a new league but we didnt do too bad i guess. Had some shocker moments like a 5-1 drubbing from St. Albans (they will appear later on in this update as our tormentors)a 5-2 loss to Torquay and a very ordinary 4-0 hiding from Stevenage. As it were we won just twice in the last twelve games. Bowed in the Trophy 3rd qual round and FA Cup 4th round quals replay.

2014-15 Far better improvement this year, making 12th. Shocked ourselves by making the FA Cup 2nd round before bowing out heroically on penalties to Sheff United. 3rd round quals again for the Trophy but thats a waste of time. Highlight was a 5-1 mauling of Kidderminster, with a hattrick to our rather expensive Halifax recruit.

2015-16Very little activity on the transfer market compared to previous years (aside from the obligatory mass cullings of garbage youth players) but the unchanged squad brought all manner of joy to Croft Park. We embarked on a run in the FA trophy to the semi's before crashing to Cambridge and had heart stopping moments in our Conference play offs to Kidderminster (through on penalties) before desposing of Hereford 1-0. My ageing veteran striker scores after struggling all year. Though its just a game, i couldnt be happier for him.

Woooooooooooooooooooosh......

2016-17 League Two and a whole new level of football for the now professional outfit of Blyth after years of semi pro meanderings. Rejoice and other descriptions of happiness. Bad start has us staring down the barrel of return back to the Conference. One win in the first ten games (with three straight 0-0 draws) is a bad sign before a heroic 4-1 beating of Bournemouth. Unbeaten in nine games improves our chances. Its a tough year but we take 19th (with 21 draws). Out in the league cup to Manures poor cousin in the first round, 1st Round in the FA Cup and a surprise semi final appearance in the Johnstones Paint thing (what did this use to be called?) against Blackpool only to loose on penalties. They laugh at us a few weeks later as they tear us apart 5-0. Nevermind, we survived!

2017-18 We are the Leagues biggest improvers as we rocket up the table to clinch a place in the playoffs (7th). The critics expectations were confounded. Burn tabloid hacks! No Johnstone's Paint trophy heroics this year(1st Rnd)bundled out of the League Cup 1st Rnd by Stoke but a YOOOOOOOOOOJ FA 3rd Rnd tie against Arsenal. Mighty Spartans go down 1-0. Id like to think we held them with a gusty and gritty defence but I think they werent even half trying. Back to torment us were St. Albans in our play off semis. They win 5-3 on agreggate.

2018-19Onwards and upwards is the catchcry at the seasons beginning. Yet backwards and downwards is more apt as we crash and burn and survive by four points from a crushing relegation. The team is a shadow of its playoff botherin self. Made the semi's again in the Johnstone Paint trophy only to go out to S****horpe (after they booted us out of the League Cup 1st Rnd in a 3-2 thriller) and lost in the FA Cup 1st Rnd to Fulham...in our first ever TV appearance. There is little optimism for next year at Croft Park. Was sorely tempted to jump ship...

Coz im speedy...I started this update long after I begun the game so it looks as if I have been screaming through it. Im in 2027 as we speak. Besides, Im not one to sit there and check out every single peice of info and stat and refine and tweak tactics etc etc as I dont have a lot of patience for it which also makes the game go a bit quicker. So there.

Hope all you pooves, llamas, LLMers, potbooters, jockmodblokes and other assorted types had a good christmas.

2019-20 Promotion! We finish a suprising 3rd, defying all media predictions. Plagued by annoying sequences of several wins, followed by several losses. Defence was the third most meanest in the League which quite obviously helped our auto promotion spot. Former EPL reject striker returns to his best form after several lean seasons. Kicked out in the 1st Rnd of the League Cup and 2nd Rnd of the Johnstones Paint trophy and FA Cup.

2020-21 League One beckoned and we bolted out of the blocks with three wins from three games before grabbing just three wins in seventeen outings. In that stretch were three consecutive 0-0 draws. Continued to struggle as expected before a late hat trick of wins helps our position. In the end we managed a very respectable 11th, far better than what was expected of us. Made it to the 2nd round of the League cup for the first time ever, 1st Round of that Paint trophy and made it to the third round of the FA Cup before been crapped on by Leeds.

2021-22Could have rightly felt optimistic about the new year but it did not go to plan. It took us eight games to register our first win, before winning the next three. Picked up eleven valuable points towards the end of season which gave us some breathing space before we survived going down the gurglar by one point after having been winless for the last six games. Failure once again in the cups.
