First year in that little French club and I had no knowledge whatsoever of how to manage a team. I focused 100% on defence and counter attack. Didn't work too good but got lucky.

No player sold. No idea when to sell and how to sell...

Rough..very rough. Off the 4 clubs who came up from the lower division, 3 of them had millions to spare and bought nice players. On my part, I still didn't know much so I tried different tactics..which failed. I learned though...

No player out...still no idea how to sell, nobody want my players.

Much smoother ride this time around. Defence stopped leaking a bit and my new striker seems promising. He's got an attitude and does NOT handle pressure too good, but overall, good year.

2009-2010 French National
Media prediction: about middle.

French National: 5th (17/11/10, gf: 57, ga: 45, pts: 62)
This year was a critical point both for me (started focusing on offence) and for the team (they're getting used to each other and the tactic). Long year, with lots of cursing and yelling but was great overall. My new striker suddenly got a huge boost in influence and is now the best buddy of everyone in the team. He still can't handle pressure at all (and I mean, AT ALL!) but he's showing some nice tricks and actualy scores.
The defence leaked a bit more this time around but that's to be expected when you go a bit more on attack, nothing too bad. Team is good, no more crybabies in there.
2 players in (one left offensive midfield and one left offensive winger).
1 player out (200k on that one..he's good but needed cash).
3 players let go.
Money wise, hit some kind of wall this time. Not sure why but I think it's because I screwed up somewhere in the contracts. Had to let one of my best player go and I'm hoping that new recruits will be up to the task...

The fist game of the season, against Romorantin (really rough when you're in Nationals), Prometheus, or Promo (nickname for my striker) just went completely nuts! First half, about 15mins in the game, he steals the ball from a midfieldier then starts running toward the goal, dodges 2 defenders, stops at the goalie who's rushing down on him and bam..little lob..GOAL! Was SO insane to see (even on that little match engine) that I too went completely wacko. We won that game 2-0, both by "Promo" and that was announcing a beautiful season.
Promo scored 21 goals, about 3 or 4 hat tricks and every body in the team had him on "I like" and they all thought "I'm glad to play next to promo!". His influence ability went up again and at mid season, he was now officially the captain. Then problem started...
Everytime Promo was happy, team did great, playing beautifuly. Everytime Promo was not happy, team did nothing...at all. If Promo started kicking players around, I started getting yellow cards and red cards. If Promo was not playing..I couldn't even score.
It got worse because Promo still did NOT handle pressure. If Media started coming down on him, or if I went "heh, nice one, keep it up", he immediately closed down and did nothing for like 2 or 3 games. Then, out of nowhere, he started doing hat tricks left and right.
I was "happy" because we actually scored, but scared shitless because nothing I was doing seemed to matter, only what Promo did moved the team up or down...
Anyway, I was UP

8 players let go (useless youngesters and my old striker. Not too bad one, for some reason felt "too old" this year and decided to retire..at 29. Think he got a bit "pushed out by the other striker...Promo).
Money better this year, club still around €400k worth or something.
2011-2012 Ligue 2

Ah well...
Started good, 3 victories. Then Media and TV came in...and couldn't do anything after that. Playing against teams worth millions and millions is rough when you're a little club.
Promo started good..then too much pressure, then injury for 3 month.
Good thing this year is that more players became interested in joining and scout was doing better. We also got LOADS of money coming in from TV rights and went fully professional at the end of the year, which is good.
4 players in (costy but worth it, including a very promising Left winger...450k on that transfer...)

Money was pouring in this year. We doubled the club's worth and I was allowed large amount of cash for transfer...Then, at the end of the year, my board came around and went "we got a good and a bad news"...
The good: new stadium. 16k seats, heated pitch. (big improvement from the 2200, 600 seats we had). Oh, and we sold the old one for 120k (wee....)
The bad: 42 MILLIONS loan!!! Pay back €350k/month till 2037!!!
I went completely mad after that! The president of the club loved the club but man, 350k a MONTH, for 25 years!!! The hell am I supposed to do now!!
As a note, 16000 seats stadium for a town with 13000 people in it..that's funny
2012-2013 French National

Phew...
REALLY rough year. I had NO choice but to go up and up and up because if not, the club was doomed due to the loan. I decided to put Promo on stand by and focus on making a team that can actually stand the heat and that went ok. Players are less dependant on that guy (he barely played) and did a great job this year. New favorite is a left off midfielder who just knows exactly where to put the ball when it's needed.
Great season, football wise. Money wise...rough..

Paying a loan of €350k a month when you're in French national with a €75k a year sponsor and a €35k a year affiliated club in the US is rough. We are now worth 1 million € but are in the red of 2 millions. I cut down on the cost of all I could and just hoped that I would have the time to finish what I started. Board still loves me, at least they are not putting pressure on me for that money fiasco. I'm REALLY hoping that our new and shiny stadium gets FILLED TO THE TOP every time next year...

I thought my Billericay board were bonkers in my 06 game when they expanded New Lodge to 24,400 when the town's population is around 45,000. We do fill it though sometimes. Quite where everyone comes from I have no idea!
Come to think about it, isn't Forest Green a village with a few hundred residents? Their new ground holds over 5000 if memory serves. It's a bit of a different case though, as Forest Green Rovers really serves a cluster of villages quite close together.
