Just to make sure you are starting down on the right path, all these players and staff you hired in you hiring frenzy were the players found by the scout and the staff from the job centre or how did you get them?
Scores can be crazy. Start of my career (only just started 3rd season, i'm new too) early cup match against a side one division up - won 6-2 Like WTF hadn't even gained a point in the league yet. Didn't need to worry though, following week so a return to normal and a 5-0 drubbing. Got humped in the second round too.
Scores can be very crazy. This is actually my first venture into Conference N/S, as I didn't play in England last time around. Lost first two friendlies against similar strength teams 5-0. But have slowly improved, with the odd slaugther here and there. Relegation battles are good fun, but can be very tough on the bloodpump. Hope you like it so far, and good luck.

Well if I was in the same boat I would have signed a scout through the Job Center and then sent him out looking for players. It would mean that you would probably have to start your first few league match using grey players on your team, but at least it would keep you away from the dreaded player search screen. Don’t forget you are probably going to play the game for 20 seasons or more so it seems a shame to use the search screen just to get through a difficult first few months.
