I've experimented on some low-level managing of my own from time to time, but usually ended up cheating one way or another and of course spoiled the game. I only found out about this LLM thing of yours today.
I really want to start it up and I thought I could avoid cheating by working my way up to those 3 seasons to start an update thread.
However, this is what I'd like to do and I was wondering if it was approvable
1) I want to use real players. I will not use searches of any kind to buy players, but I'd just like to have that kind of detail.
2) At some point, I might want to "get a fix" and play a season or two with a bigger club. If I strive not to interact with my LLM team in anyway, is it okay? I know, it's not really in the spirit of LLM, but technically I wouldn't be altering the realism of the LLM portion, would I.
I know #2 is probably a deal breaker, but it never hurts to ask.
1. Loading the game with real players isn't a problem. We all do.
2. No. You're either LLM or not. If you want to play in the big leagues, work your way up and earn the job on merit. If you're really LLM then you don't look for the big teams for a "fix". Surviving is sufficient.
3. I'll wager £20 LLM isn't your cup of tea. People who end up playing this way have normally not cheated in their games - they play LLM without realising it. You, however...
As I said, I only found out about this today (after posting those threads by the way)
I won't take that wager, 'cause I'd just lose. But I'm more that enthusiastic about trying.
I remember the good old days, when did know how to cheat or really play for that matter. I just bought my favourite players and had a blast. All that's gone now. Favourite players have retired. The game is just repeating itself.
I know it takes a lot to make it work. I admire your efforts, all of you, I honestly do. I want to try, and if that means no to the #2 then so be it. If I'll cheat I guess I'm just hopeless, but I am at least going to try.
P.s. Quitting cold turkey is a rough road, can I start another "silly" game on the side for fun to ease off. I mean no disrespect for your style, just want try it with taking my own short-comings in consideration.
P.p.s. I promise you, if (and when) I'll post an update thread, I WILL NOT CHEAT. I'll keep the LLM experience completely separate from all other FM things.
Ok - I'll let anyone have a chance, but LLM isn't easy and you won't get success overnight (or at all, for some of us). LLM is tough. Also, just be prepared for a lot of skepticism from the regulars. One thing which won't be tolerated by us are trips into the fora like the GPG and T&T.
Hope you have fun whichever way you go. After all, it's a computer game, you're supposed to have fun playing it. If your kind of fun doesn't apply to our guidelines and forum rules, then that's too bad.. but it still doesn't stop you from having fun in your own way.
Give it a go, play it in the spirit and ethics of LLM, and if it isn't for you then it isn't. No penalty, it takes a certain type of mentality to play real LLM and it just isn't for everyone.
Playing a side game is something that I don't see as a problem. It's a game and people should do their best to get the most out of it. However playing a game and reaching top flight by taking every step in the ladder is something that I find much more fun than just jumping in.
Starting at the top is kinda like getting a game, and level warping to the end boss. You'll probably beat the game, but how fun will it be to just kill the boss?
It's up to you to chose if you want to take the easy way, that takes no time and little effort, or the hard way, that requires effort. I know what path I would pick but for most people the easy route is the best route. But if you do decide to take the LLM route you'll see parts of the game that others don't and you wont regret that. Specially if you are able to do it without any help or cheating.
