I see two sides of the coin here:

First, there are those hardcore LLMs, where LLM is a way of life and they have been doing it for years and this is their forum.

Second (the group asking the questions) are those that are wanting to try playing the LLM way but still have their Chelsea save on the side that they play every once in a while. There is nothing wrong with playing this way, its their game and they can play how they want.

That being said playing the LLM way, while still having that second save on the side distinctly puts you in a different group than the hardcore LLMs, to whom this forum belongs.

Just my 2 cents

Oh, and just for clarification, I quite enjoy playing LLM, although I probably don't post in here enough to be considered an official LLM...

heh, interesting thread. I guess I currently stand as non-LLM. But I am starting to shift towards that way. My current game in FM07 is where I started with Brentford. I have been using the staff search, but not the player search. Well, mostly not using the player search. I think my desire you success currently overides my desire for realism.

And yeah, I think I posted in the GPG forum too. I was bored because my soundcard isnt working. I think I have decided I dont really like that forum anyway. All your updates make for a lot better reading.

I am managing Marine and don't play by full LLM rules as i find some of these "rules" very strange. Surly after you get so far in the game player naming becomes obsolete. Its the over restrictivness (is that even a word) of this forum on certain issues that keeps me from posting updates and such like.

I'm doing Dafuge's challenge at the moment but if i ever complete it will be choosing another new team that gets promoted into the Conference North/South and playing by full LLM rules. No searching(even ass man assisted) or even looking at a players profile. I do think its the best and most rewarding way to play the game.

But i still doubt i will post about my progress in here due to wanting to just write about my progress and not have to think too much about what im saying.

Im in year 2020 already so will be way beyond this by the time i start with my full LLM rules team and very much doubt that anything going on in that game, be it player names etc would reflect on anyone elses game.

Your rules are your rules and in a way i love you guys for your dedication to how you play the game. Im not wanting to change your rules or anything of the kind. I just feel this forum could be a much brighter place with abit more flexibility. Thats why i find Dafuge's challenge a happy medium.

I find it surprising then that you don't understand why the rules (such as no player naming) are there. Shame.

I think the point was player naming after a certain point when none of the players are real anymore and they are FREDs with random names. Of course, I could easily be interpreting it the way I want to interpret it.

The reason players cannot be named at all, is due to a simple theory known as "floodgate scenario". If jo newbie comes and sees player names then, what do you suppose he'd do????

The floodgate scenario is about as proven as gravitation theory. Of course you can claim "nah, I don't understand why the apple has to drop downwards" but we are not the bunch of people who give up their proven theories.
