I have just finshed my 2009-10 season with liverpool. I was looking for some new south american players so i looked through the player stats in the recently finished copa america. I then noticed steven gerrard as one of the top goalscorers. I then realised that england won the compition after beating peru 1-0 in the final. Has this happend in anybody elses game?

ENGLAND COPA AMERICA CHAMPIONS???????????? Post #2
This topic has been mentioned many times before in the forums. Copa America invites teams to play in the tournament. If, for some reason, the usual teams are unable to compete, they will ask another. England is a likely choice for this.

So you are saying that this is not a bug? Has this ever happened in real life?

Wkikipedia syas : "Usually two or three CONCACAF teams get an invitation to participate at each tournament. Mexico has been a regular since they were invited for the first time in 1993. As CONMEBOL only has the 10 members mentioned above, there is no qualification tournament, nor is there a qualification tournament for the invited teams. They are invited on their own merits, such as by winning matches in World Cup finals or from qualification stages in their confederations."

"...Since 1993, two teams from other confederations are also invited. So far, the invited teams have been Costa Rica (1997, 2001, 2004), Honduras (2001), Japan (1999), Mexico (1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2007), and the United States (1993, 1995, 2007).
