sometimes you have players that can play at different positions. For example, DMC AMC can also play MC, if they can play as competent then they'll be list in those best Xth, not necessary a big squad.

I remember at Juventus looking at a particular first team player and seeing 'such and such is the 8th best CB in the squad' and thinking 'I have 8 CB's? News to me.'
Also one of the best of these types of messages I saw is 'player x is the third best striker in the squad. He would be a good signing for any league 1 side' which tickled me as that would suggest I have three strikers good enough for league 1, when in fact I was bottom of league 2 and they had about 3 goals between them.
