I'm really stuck with this. Have read loads of posts yet not seen anything that applies.

Problem:

Just bought new laptop with Vista pre-installed, can install fm2008 without any problems.

When I go to start the game it comes up with a message along the lines of please insert the original disc, not a copy. It is the original disc. Have followed the instructions on the link from the error message. Have uninstalled then re-installed with no change.

Have you downloaded and installed the update? If not do that first.

Have you tried turning off your firewall and/or anti virus protection?

Have taken the virus off....will do the firewall now and try the doing the update too.

Don't forget to (physically) disconnect your laptop from the internet if you turn off your firewall and AV!
