Default Who should be playing for England?

I've been reading so many posts about Beckham, Gerrard and Lampard and the England situation. What ticks me off is that the problems we have were caused by the fans in the first place.

Any non English football manager can see that Lampard would not be in a starting line-up if Gerrard is also available in that team. The problem is that English managers (bar Allardyce)look at goal stats and not the other aspects to individual performances. Lampard doesn't do that much in a game, especially against the bigger teams. Just ask Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool fans.

Then there is the whole Beckham saga. Anyone who watches spanish football can see that Beckham has becom a much better player since he went to Spain. I used to criticise him often when he was at Man U but have found that he is a much more grounded and complete player now. He is the best right sided option England currently have.

Finally my favorite topic. Michael Owen. He's played 3 games in a year and is already getting the nod over players that have performed all season. Crouch should start alongside Bent as they have earned the call up. If we continue to give players like Owen an automatic spot in the first team (not just the squad) then we will never win anything. Look at the 2006 world cup if you want examples.

I know people will start stating how Bent can't do it at international level... How many games has he started or played in even? How many games did Shearer play before scoring. Bent will go the same route that Ian Wright did.

It's a shame that Scholes has retired from International football as he would be the ideal pairing with Gerrard for centre midfield. Oh yes, why did he retire... That's it the fans wanted to see Lampard.
