Cleon would you say that the tactic is not as important as playing your players in there best position. So each team would have there own tactic or formation if you like. Does that make sense ? So basically whats working for you at pres with west Ham may not work for you with say blackburn, Due to them not having say a great AMC like Tevez.

| Sort of, but I think playing to your teams strnghts outweight everything else. I could drop Tevez and play a bit better if I used Lima instead. Tevez is doing well but he doesn't give 100% every game like Lima due to him not settled at my club yet and asked for a transfer
You don't have to play a player in his best position, just get the best out of him.

Cleon - I've noticed from your results screenies that the opposition are creating quite a few chances against you. I know you expected this given the nature of your defensive counter-attacking tactic, and I know that you said a lot of them were long shots, and not real quality chances. That said, I know from my own experience of FM2007, that usually (in the EPL at least) if you let your opponents create that many chances, they will usually stick on or two of them away. This doesn't really seem to be too much of a problem for you though, so is there anything you would say about this? I know you can't comment on other's experiences of the game without seeing their PKM's etc but if you've got any advice it's appreciated as always. Cheers.

I would like to know if you treat the game as a game or think like real life. I know thats sounds silly to start, but my friend get good results by using real footy knowledge and using real-life explainations for things. Personally, I only ever think about the algorithims and how the code would be written, but this may be my downfall, as I dont give the game enough respect for being accurate.
Secondly, do you still do opposition instructions?
Finally (!), do you choose the formations then choose the team or vice versa? Do you then buy in better replacements or do you have a favourite formation that you revert to when you have the players? As your success is so high, would you ever need to sign players other than due to age?
Thanks!

Cleon,
First of all, thanks for doing this project. Your results actually confirm my understanding that defensive-counter attacking work great for mid-table teams and it's probably the only way to go at least at the beginning.
I have noticed that your team instructions imply zonal marking. Yet you checked "marking" box in players' individual instructions, though they are still on zonal marking. Any specific reason for that?
Could you also post one or two screenshots with players' postgame stats (passes, interceptions, headers, etc.)? Preferably one from a match you won clearly away (Chelsea?), and another from more close home game (Man City?). I just want to see if there are some differences as I suspect your tactic should work much better against strong teams, whilst weaker teams should be more difficult to break down, especially at home, as they tend to pplay more defensive.
Thanks.

| Well for a counter attacking tactic to work you have to invite the opposition onto you. So there gonna create a fair few chances. However a lot of shots are long distance efforts or from set pieces. I'm hard to break down and limit the space the opposition as in midfield. I'm confident my keeper and defence can handle any shots. Quote: |

| You have to treat it like both really. I tend to think of it more as a game though but use a few ideas from RL football. I.E tactics and how they play, that can be easily done as you should know how it plays in the real world. The next stpe is then to use the game coding to make this actually work in game. Quote: |

| Not in this game no, but usually yes. Quote:

| When I first take over a team I tend to use the best players I already got and bring a few reinforcement in if possible. Not too many though as I hate upsetting the balance of my side.
I then choose a tactic that will bring out the best of my better players. So you could say its a bit of both. My favourite formation that I enjoy playing of FM though is the W-M. Its deadly but can be a bit prone at the back against some formations. Thats the tactics I always end up using in long career games after maybe 6 or 7 seasons due to the quality of players id have.

| It is, any side from the bottom to the middle can do well playing like this. In fact even if you have the best players in the league this still can be lethal. But I found this only true in English football, on the continent its a bit different. Quote: |

| The template I worked from had man marking ticked, so I had to change it. Quote: |

| Sure give me 5 minutes and i'll post some.
Against weaker opposition if I stick to my guns they tend to change mentality towards me and will go more attacking.

Cleon - I can see things are still going particularly well for you and i just need to ask one more time if there is anything else you are implementing, before during or after a game?.
I say this because i decided to give your tactic a go via the instructions, i could'nt help myself it looked absolutely unbelieveable.
Now i've given it a go, your results seem even more unbelievable, because quite frankly the tactic has been shocking?.
