Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Goal Poacher

I have David Trezeguet in my team with an amazing midfield and a striker who is perfect for setting david up. How can I make it so Trezeguet stays by the goal and scores loads of tap-ins both with feet and head? I dont want him to help defend at all I would like him to stay up at all times.

First of all you have to make sure your team is getting him the supply he needs to be able to score goals. If you want him to score tap ins etc then you need to make sure people are getting the crosses into the box. You also might want to make sure other people are creating chances for themselves too and if the keeper does save it ensure Trezuguet is going to be in a position to score should he get the rebound.

Its hard to tell you what settings will make it work as it varies all the time. The best advice I can give you is to watch a few games and see if hes playing the way you like him too. If not write the things down he's doing wron in a note pad or something. Then for the next game change a few of his settings like forward runs, mentality etc and see what effect that as on his performance.

So far so good, 2 games into the season and Trezeguet has scored in both of them. Both were away, against Inter Milan and Valencia. Both of his goals were from corners: he is near post flick-on with the corners aimed at near post. Hopefully others will try this technique.

Run into the exact problem I was worried aobut now. If the ball is on the right wing, Cesar Delgado drops back to offer support, which is great as he is creative. But when it is on the left wing, Trezeguet drops back for support. I want him to stay forward and wait for the pass all the time. Is there a way to stop him doing this and make Delgado come back to help out on both wings?

I think you need to lower creative freedom and put him slightly more offensive? Dont hold it against me though.

Hmm, you could lower his creative freedom to try and stop him from doing that. I dunno how that would effect his goal scoring though.
