Are there any restrictions to use a playmaker?
I mean, am I wrong if a say that the use of a playmaker should be employed with a team which play a possession football style? Or it could be employed with a direct-quick style as well?
I´m trying to develop a tactic with Zaragoza, and Í want Pablo Aimar to be the "maestro", and to put Ewerthon as a lone striker and exploit his pace and acceleration, with the support that Aimar could bring. I´m not sure to employ a possession style or quick direct one, as I find (maybe I am wrong) a bit illogic to play a quick direct style if I want to use a playmaker...

If you want to exploit pace that you have then you need to play fast and direct imo. A playmaker can work very well playing this way and is something I did in a online but I used Jose Sosa and he was very good. Think he got something like 30+ assists that season. I had a young regen striker upfront who had 20 pace and 20 accelration aswell as good all round striker stats. He was lethal infront of goal.
The 2 of them could just catch teams napping and that always used to be mentioned in the commentry on the game too. Soemthing like 'He caught them napping then'. They used to create goals out of nothing.

As Milan I have all my players playing short passes except Pirlo (playmaker). I find this very helpful as we keep posession and he plays the killer balls into the final third. Maybe you could try this?

I'd say there are certain restrictions.
You need a great AMC for a start, you will need ahead of him good strikers pref. with pace and of course finishing/composure.
I have found the best playmakers are those which have 'drops deap to collect the ball' in the positions section of their profile.

| I ALWAYS use DMC as a playmaker. I find it much more effective than using AMC since imo DMC in a better position to dictate tempo, direction of play, etc. Moreover, DMC is usually the most hard-working player on the pitch, therefore he can be everywhere . Finally, DMC is in a great position to connect defense and attackers. As for AMC, I usually give him creative freedom so that he can decide how to continue an attack. However, playmaker is the one who starts attacks and supports them by offering himself as passing option.

Cleon, I find that when I am playing a direct and quick style, my possession percentage is low. Do you get this too?
