This idea was raised by Fuss in another thread. I propose that people set up their tactics and try and get their Central Defender(s) to play through balls and create assists for the forwards. Let’s play say 15 games each and see who can get the most assists from through balls from their Central Defenders.
I think to do this would require quality players so I propose Man Utd for this challenge.
I think this could give us a good indication as to how to get the most from our centerbacks.
If this has already been done somewhere then please Cleon delete this thread, or if it is not an fitting thread feel free to delete. I am still finding my feet on these boards as a poster.
Any takers?

I just took the W-M Challenge ... but I gonna give this a go too
Im going for Chivu as I see him giving the most assists.
I wonder if he should play long ball, direct or short. No wait...short would be impossible as he'll never reach the strikers. So Direct or Long ball... hm... nice challenge

How do you know? To know how the AI plays we need a real time tactics grabber, as the AI doesn't set up instructions etc until you click the play button in the game .
I guess you could watch how the AI plays to see if they do, but it could be they just use direct passing :/

As english is not my language, I want to ask the real meaning of "through ball". As it sounds, I think a through ball is a pass played between defenders at ground level. But (from what I usually read here) it seems that the through ball is some kind of long aerial pass, or "hoof the ball"? Could anyone clarify this?

The perfect example of what I understand for "through ball" is those passes ala Riquelme: those kind of passess that go at ground level, between two or three defenders, which ends in an unmarked player running towards the goal.
