I dunno if it's just me but I find winning away incredibly hard, I usually play with lower league teams and eventually get them to the premiership. Playing as Nottingham Forest atm (promoted twice, relegated, then won the championship then 7th in prem).

I usually adapt my home tactics for away, reducing my attacking, having the central midfielders stay back a bit more and focus more on counter attacking and using my tall striker to hold up the ball. It is rather annoying when you can beat Man Utd at home but then get beat 5-0 by Middlesborough and Spurs away.

to give you an idea, 2010-2011 season I finished 7th in the premier league.

Home 14wins 1 draw 4 losses, 5th overall
Away 2 wins 6 draws 11 losses 17th overall

For your away games are you playing a slower tempo with deeper defensive line?

tempo usually just normal, same with defensive line.
