It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Ariesv1 Tactic Home and Away (4-2-3-1)

After much tweaking, I have decided to give the following tactics to the public. It is an interesting formation to say the least. At first I played one season with Bayern and did really well, however it was Bayern and most of the time regardless of what tactic you play with them you will win the Budesliga. Here are some screenshots of the Bayern Season.

Bayern Champions

Bayern U-19 Champions

Bayern Formation

Bayern Ariesv1 Home

Bayern Ariesv1 Away

Bayern Ariesv1 Mod

So for all intesive purposes I figured it must have been a fluke or if not the sheer quality of the players. So when I went on vacation to Chile I decided to bring my good old notebook with me and play some FM 07. I started a season with Pompey, good old Pompey. I played with the same home tactic and away tactic and managed to come in 2nd in the EPL. It was a great accomplishment even though I lost the championship to Chelsea by 2 points. The reason I cannot post the pictures is due to the fact that my notebook does not have a working wireless card. So you are going to need to take my word on it.

I then went on to test the same home tactic, which I have named Aries v1 Home with West Brom in the Championship. I managed to sweep the championship without dropping a game at home. I am currently playing a game with Deportivo in Spain on my desktop and will post my results when finished.

The Home tactic, which is Ariesv1 Home oppossed to Ariesv1 Away which is the away tactic is the more solid of the two. I lost one game my entire season with Bayern, which includes cups games, league games, and Champions League. I did not drop a single game at home with it at West Brom and I lost 2 at Pompey, which for me a pretty impressive stats even for at home. When I tried the tactic with the Bayern U-19s they did not drop a single game at home or away. They had a perfect record at the end of the season.

Ariesv1 Away or the away tactic definetly needs some tweaking and I was a bit wary of realising it until it was finalized, but I figured why not allow the public play with it a little. I played with the 1st Away tactic for the majority of the season with Bayern and began to drop games at the end. I then switched to the modified Ariesv1 and began to gain my away form once again. As to my West Brom and Pompey save, I used Ariesv1 Away the entire time and I had indifferent results, however I did manage more victories away than losses.

As for what this tactic requires in terms of players:
GK - The usual stats that goalies need will suffice, such as decent concentration, good positioning and anticipation for aerial balls. Decent technical statistics and and physical attributes. One thing I do highly recommend is that their kicking is around 16 since this will be vital due to some back passing and many counter attacks that start off from the goalie.
DR/DL - The first thing is pace and acceleration as well as a high stamina. These players will be forced to ran up and down the field constantly and will tire out very easily if their physical attributes are low. They will also need average 12+ crossing and dribbling, since many times they will join the attack. However, you will also need for them to have decent defensive stats such as heading, marking, tackling, as well as good mental stats such as positioning, anticipation, decisions, bravery, composure, concentration.
DC (Right) - This will need to be the faster of the two and the one with the better physical attributes. He can have a lower mentality rating and a slightly lower technical rating, but please not too much.
DC (Left) - This will be the slower of the pair and the one with weaker physical attributes. However, will need to have higher technical and mental attributes.
MC (Left) - This will be your typical defensive midfielder. The Roy Keane, Gattuso, Vieria of your team. It will have to be a no nonsense type of person, who is willing to finish a play one way or another.
MC (Right) - This will be your typical holding midfield who will help compliment your DM, but will have the liberty to be more offensive. He will need to be good at passing, long shots, and creativity.
AMR/AML - This will need to be your classic winger. He does not need to have a crazy amount of pace and acceleration, as long as he can dribble well and cross well and has average mental attributes. I also recommend that the wingers have a good first touch and finishing as they may get many opportunities to shoot on net with this tactic. Do not be surprised if one of them end up with 10+ goals each season.
AMC - This is your typical offensive playmaker midfielder. He will need to have a high rating in the jumping, heading, and long shots department, as well as passing and creativity.
ST - This may seem to be a bit odd, however the best strikers in the Ariesv1 and Ariesv2 is a very pacey striker, I am talking about 16+ in acceleration and pace. He does not need to be strong in the air, but it is a plus. He needs to have some great composure, finsihing, and first touch, as well as the speed to break away from defenders. You will find that he may get many breakaway opportunities leaving him one vs one with the goalie.

Notable Players in Ariesv1 Home Formation-
GK: David James, Rensing, Kiely
DR: Sagnol, Glen Johnson, Peter Watson
DL: Lahm, Matthew Taylor, Neil Clement
DC (Left) - Sol Campbell, Van Buyten, Nyatanga
DC (right) - Lucio, Curtis Davies, Stefanovic
MC (Left) - Sean Davies, Demichelis, Darren Carter
MC (Right) - Pedro Mendes, Hargreaves, Arouca, Chaplow
AMR - Zoltan Gera, Arellano, Sean Wright Phillips, Karimi, Deisler, Greening
AML: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Koumas, Guardado, Greening
AMC: Santa Cruz, Kranjcar, Robert Koren
ST: Makaay, Omar Bravo, Nery Castillo, Lualua, Agustin Delgaldo

I decided to give my tactics a go in another continent. I decided on playing in the MLS with the LA Galaxy on the 7.0.2 patch. Once again I am amazing run with the Ariesv1 Home Tactic. I only managed to lose 2 home games, which just so happened to be the final 2 games of the season. I had both my goalies injured and was playing with my reserves. As for my away tactic, I finally made some modifications after I began losing the first 4 away games using my old tactic. After that I only lost 2 with the modified away tactic. In all it was a very successful season, I managed to win the MLS, US Cup, and NA Champions Cup. I am currently playing in the Club World Championship.

I did come away with some new tips. I used Cornell Glen for my solo striker. I realized that although very helpful, a striker with low composure can still score a lot. Although when playing in the EPL, Budesliga, Seria A, La Liga, I will def. recommend a striker with high composure, as he will most likely not get the amount of chances as Glen did this season. Also, for me the most vital positions are the AMC and 2 wingers, as well as the MC left. These are the players who make and break this tactic. Anyway as always please any feedback would be great. I will be posting the new away tactic on FM downloads. Below are the screenshots of this LA Galaxy season.

THis seems to be working well so far, won first 2 home games using this tactic.
2-0 against Fulham (a bogey team for me)
3-0 against R. Madrid.

just wanted to ask after looking at the team instructions why you choose to counter attack at home and not away as i thought it would be preferable to defend a bit more away and then counter and be a bit more attacking at home

I used this tactic with the home and away mod tactic and i finished 4th with Udinese.

I also used this tactic with the home and the new away tactic and i finished 8th with Real Sociedad.

A decent tactic you made i will keep trying with other teams.

Yes I know it is a bit strange to counter attack at home however if you try the same exact tactic away for some reason it does not seem to work. As I said before the home tactic is the real gem, I have been playing around w/ different away tactics. The new Ariesv1 which is the away tactic and is located in www.fmdownloads.net under that name New Ariesv1 is the one I have had most success away. I am currently trying these two tactics w/ Livorno.

Cheers
James
