Hmm I dunno about this...I've felt for a while now that training does help..Training helps in improving attributes generally and if you are the sort to try out different things then "tactical training" is a must.
My tactics are usually punctuated with high pressing and with some of the high mentalities I use this has a tendency of wearing players out. But I've noticed that the further along my team gets the better they are at gelling as a unit. I've had assmen say that my players are still trying hard to work together so I guess match play, being in the first 11 and training all work together.
Whether there is any direct feedback that this is working really has to depend on your own individual assessment of how the match flows. I've seen league one sides improve the more they play so I can only assume this is a aggregate effect.
Should the results directly affect the way the game is played on the pitch, it certainly is possible, then again it does open a whole slew of programming considerations from the development point. Personally speaking it'd be far easier to leave that happening in the background. I've seen the training module evolve and then take a step back as different things are tried.
I generally assign my reserves and my U-18's to the same formation I use in the senior side and I tend to favour 2 or 3 formations usually at the start of the season. The more often a team plays using a formation the easier it is to switch.
