The reason that I want to do this is that every player has different attribitutes to another so when a change is necessary I like to fine tune individual instructions to suit the oncoming player. This provess would be aided great by the concept of savable instructions for individuals.

Another one: Within the game changing from one formation to another (442 to 451 for example)is not recommended during the season as it confuses the players.
Yet in real life sides change formations regularly. For example Man Utd started with a 433 the other day but then changed to a 451 or something to protect a lead they had.
However in the game we are advised not to do this since it has detrimental effect on the side. You can see here that there is no parity between the game and real life in this respect.
So an idea to work around this is to stipulate perhaps at the beginning of the season your designated formation but have another that you your side can also train in for circumstances such as i mentioned above.
At present within the game you sort of have to keep the same formation and just make it more defensive or attacking depending on what you need to accomplish. This inhibits you when there are scenarios such as losing two strikers to injury and being forced to change formation.
| A good idea.

</BLOCKQUOTE>That involoves going in and playing about with stuff outside of the game though right?
Not that easy or practical to most people.
Like you I'd love to see it IN the game rather than however the hell you change templates! |

Don't worry mate. Thats what the forums are for - to help you out.
We certainly don't want SI stagnating and just regurgitating 07 out again.
| I don't need help I offer it out
Agree though, When they release the same versions with diff data bases each time it makes you wonder what they do all day!

you can change a formation anytime. I often drop a striker for a defender or vice-versa and on countless oncassions saved a game.
I recently played sunderland or some lower prem team. I started attacking and wide away from home, big mistake. As my normal away formation has been excellent. I was a goal down in 10 mins and nothing happened , so i changed back but couldn't get the goal. Second half about 60 mins i went attacking, wide and rare time wasting and took a defender off and player 3 at back, and added a mifielder to my diamond. I scored near the end just saving the game. This is why I like FM at the moment.

Don't you just love hard disk failures.
Well thanks to everyone for their contributions so far and keep them comming.
I do not expect finished ideas ready to implement more just food for though stuff, things that might inspire more ideas from others, at the end of the day SI have their roadmap for were they want to take the game and that is fair enough with me, but if we can continue to come up with some good ideas about the tactics and training side of the game then maybe we can inpire SI too.

I would like to see an option where we could man mark a position rather than an individual like marking 'FC' and anyone put in that position tactically. This is to contribute the man marking idea in a different way rather than directly linking to marking an idividual player while also not doing the zonal marking thing where any opposition that walks into a given area is closed down.

I find having an everyday training schedule is too demanding and tedious on the average gamer!
Maybe it could be a monthly schedule instead. On the 1st of every month u will get a reminder to remodel your training schedule.
And it could be on a percentage basis.
For example, the month of October you have the Big 4 coming up. So you focus on being the defensive.
Therefore the training schedule could be:
Defenders-
50% Man Marking
20% Keep ball in possession
20% Counter attack
10% Tackling
And there are many schedules to choose from, ranging from finishing to the "old school" pig in the middle.
For the tactical aspect of the game, it would be better if certain issues are being cleared up such as mentality and creative freedom. At the moment, I dun really see any effect when creative freedom is set on high. For example, I have a winger who is great at long shots and finishing but poor at crossing. I want him to cut in and take shots. Despite giving him a high creative freedom, Long shots often and Crossing set to rarely, he still patrol the wings and seldom cut in.
Or positioning Ronaldinho the AMC position in the tactical screen. In real life, he roams to the left wing. However, in the game, he stays in the centre even with creative freedom turn to high.
Maybe we can give every player a radius or an area for him to stay in? And he will only go out of the area if he has high creative freedom.

Hi lyw
I wasn't suggesting that as the manager you had to change the training schedule every day.
I feel as though training schedule should impact how good a team are at playing in a particular style. At the moment it don't matter what training schedule at the tactics level.
Say I've got chelsea in 7 days, as the manager I want to be able to play 4-5-1 against them, so my training needs to be focused around playing that formation and the roles that make up that formation. My team should benefit from 7 days training in a 4-5-1 more so than if I sprang it on them the day before the match.
