Its just how i play.

The AI plays - typically - 4 tactics:

442short arrows - their home tactic.

442 long arrows

442 no arrows - their defensive counter atttacking tactic.

424 - their blitzkrieg tactic usually used in the last 20 mins of the game if you are beating them by a goal

I have different tactics to counter each of these and I am winning in both the premiership and in the conference.

if you dont want to make all these formations then just experiment with your team instructions to see what fits!

for instance if im leading i mainly just change my time wasting to the highest notch of normal and my team will see out the mnatch! if i go too high i usually concede so ive found a happy medium and ive used it from the 70th minute before without problem! you may want to go narrow and lower the tempo too if your still struggling but its tough to get away with doing nothing in this game!

conversely if your chasing, you may just need to up your team mentality to around 18! trust me, dont believe anyone else who says individual overrides it because ive seen too many turnarounds just changing this to believe it doesnt have an effect, it does! ive only just this minute came back from 3-1 down away to west ham by changing just the mentality at halftime and i was 4-3 up by the 56th minute. then i lowered the tempo and timewasted onto 1st notch of normal and won 4-3!

If you want help please say so, if you open a thread and start whinging about the game then this thread will plunge into a whining thread and at that point I will close it.

One thing morale affects the game a great deal. Too much from my point of view. And if there's one thing you want to do is to watch out for morale changes.

Sometimes if you play against the AI, once the AI makes a slew of great saves, it gets tougher to score against it. So a tactic with more than 1 route is crucial.

I hope this thread is one for help, if it turns out to be a whining thread I will immediately close it.

AT HOME

vs 442 flat - I play my normal attacking home tactic Which is slower tempo and possession conscious, attacking mentality, lowered time wasting, wide, direct passing at the back, mixed in the middle and short up front. It creates less chances but better quality. It is patient because it is drawing the defensive AI out of their area to create chances.

vs 442 short arrows This is the tactic that the AI uses meaning that it is coming out to attack me - it is not being overly defensive so I don't need to use the above home slow tempo tactic. I can play my more adventurous attacking tactic, faster tempo, still wide and generally being more aggressive throughout my side.

vs 442 long arrows - my normal home tactic.

vs 424 - I will be leading by a goal here and they will change to this in the last 20 or so minutes. If they do then I immediatly change to either my close up shop tactic which is basically getting people behind the ball, and counterattacking only, with high time wasting,
OR if they are a weaker team I change to my other counter attacking tactic which is a little more aggressive and gives forward runs to one or two more players.

AWAY

If I am playng a team that is superior to me I use my counter attacking tactic which gets men behind the ball and is more patient.
If it is against someone equal or inferior I use my normal slow tempo home tactic which should be the equal of them.

Again if they change to a 424 I immediatly change to my shut up shop tactic to see the game off.

Throughout the game I am keeping an eye on their formation, The possession stats, the passing stats and also just watching the game to get a feel for whether I am dominating or not.

To be honest, i've a family now and i haven't the time.

Just wanted to enjoy a football management game, not have to read each minute detail. Takes up far too much time.

Close it then. Less one customer for fm2008.
