I've been playing something similar at Arsenal and Barcelona, however like Cleon I'd have that central MC dropped to DMC (and then I made him my semi-playmaker).
I also like farrows on the wingers.
For defensive situations, it easily turns into a "shut up shop" formation by just dropping those wingers back to ML/R, dropping the mentality, narrowing it and checking counter attack.
Depends what you plan on doing, but yeah, I really like the 4-5-1-cum-4-3-3 - not so good for unskillful sides but in the right hands is awesome.

If you want to use the same team, I say we both go for Sevilla. I think this would let us delve into the consistency/random issues of the game. How about we both go Sevilla and let other folk play around with other teams should they want to volunteer?...
I suggest we go through each slider individually, reach an agreement, and then move on to the next. If anyone does have a disagreement, please back your claims up with footballing theory. The more solid your argument, the more valuable it will be.
Ignore the fact that this is Everton. It's merely for illustrative purposes, but here are my mentality settings:
Keep in mind that this is a home tactic and that the focus was on attack. I'll be honest, when I set my Derby game up, I was experimenting with a global formation and it simply just worked. The reason my CBs are on defensive is because I did not want them bombing forward. I think it worked because everyone was on the same wavelength due to identical mentalities.
Do we proceed as is?
Does anyone have any suggestions/arguments/solutions?

All Ok with that except surely we want the keeper on a similar mentality to the defense?

Oh and yes I'll go Sevilla as well. I'd started a game with them and taken it to the second week of August. Only brought it Yevgeni Levchenko (FC Gronigen I think) as midfield reinforcement. I did annoy Fabiano and Kanoute a bit by offering them on the off chance I might buy Iaquinta but didn't succeed. Kanoute will hopefully forget about it and Fabiano is now injured for 3 months so that shouldn't have too much of an effect.

Looks like a decent, simple set up mate.
A suggestion could be to have one of the three midfielders on a lower mentality also, or just use forward runs to stop him going forward.
Just an option, if he does happen to go forward too much.

Midfielders are on forward runs rarely, oba.
moggy: we'll have the keeper on same mentality as CBs then. Creative Freedom
Thoughts/suggestions?

Yep, that's how I would do it too.
One question here, perhaps Cleon may know the answer. By using all individual mentalities there like arteta has shown, does the team menality slider become redundant?

I can only speak about my games but for CF I don't like to give players a too low number. Ideally I leave them all in the middle with the exception of my creative players obviously. Now the reasons for this are because I see players make too many mistakes and give the ball away too much. The reasons why I believe this happens is that players are lost when in possession at times, especially if there isn't a simple pass option on. This in my honest opinion is why players make simple little mistakes, but the mistakes that seem to cost us matches. Surely its not a coincidence that its always players at the back who make mistakes, and as a rule most of us lower there CF?
Since I no longer lower there CF in most cases, I don't seem to have half the little mistakes as I did before. But like I say I can only comment on my games.

| Not imo, the team mentality slider still plays a vital part. But others disagree, but I can change a game by just altering the mentality team slider even if everyone as individual settings. Some agree with me others disagree, but I always use the team sliders on the basis they do play a apart.
